Capgemini Invent is looking for an experienced Managing Consultant or Senior Manager to join its Energy Transition & Utilities practice, specifically within the Energy Markets, Regulation, and Systems Operations area. This is a senior advisory and transformation role focused on helping clients navigate major change across the energy sector, with particular emphasis on Great Britain energy market systems, regulation, and the operational frameworks that support the market. The team works across energy networks, retail, central markets, water, and nuclear, and this role sits in the central markets sub-sector.

The practice is growing quickly because of rising demand across the energy transition landscape. The successful candidate will help shape and lead major consulting and transformation work for clients, using a combination of sector knowledge, strategic thinking, digital awareness, and strong stakeholder skills. The role is intended for someone who can bridge business, regulation, and technology, and who can operate confidently in complex, multi-party environments.

What you will do

  • Lead the design, assessment, and delivery of technical changes affecting central energy industry systems.
  • Oversee the implementation of industry changes from the perspective of a central code body, making sure coordination happens across all affected organisations and participants.
  • Provide senior-level advice to clients and stakeholders on the technical side of the regulatory framework and the systems that support it.
  • Translate policy, regulatory, market, and technical developments into practical delivery approaches that address real industry challenges.
  • Run engagement, training, and support activity for industry participants and senior stakeholders.
  • Help clients improve outcomes for energy consumers and for the wider energy system by shaping and implementing effective strategies.
  • Lead continuous improvement activity across services and delivery models.
  • Take ownership of complex workstreams and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring quality, delivery, and outcomes are maintained even when the situation is unclear or changing.
  • Contribute to the wider ET&U practice by building client relationships, supporting proposals, helping generate revenue, and developing people and the practice itself.

What the role requires

  • Deep understanding of GB energy market regulation, including specialist knowledge of industry systems and the ability to turn regulatory and policy change into practical implications for organisations and programmes.
  • Experience of energy system operations, including how the physical system works, how data moves through it, and the agreements that underpin those processes.
  • Relevant background gained through work with transmission operators, system operators, distribution network operators or distribution system operators, or significant delivery partners to those organisations.
  • Experience working with or for organisations across the regulated energy system, such as government, regulators, system operators, code and market bodies, energy suppliers, and network operators.
  • Strong leadership and management consulting capability, including the ability to lead complex technical change through ambiguity.
  • Working knowledge of modern architecture frameworks and technologies.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior clients and to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  • Experience shaping and leading complex change programmes and workstreams.
  • Ability to shape and oversee digital technology requirements as part of delivery.
  • Track record of driving operational improvement and better delivery performance.
  • Experience leading industry change and senior stakeholder engagement across complex environments with multiple parties.
  • Ability to lead teams of different sizes, manage several workstreams at once, collaborate across organisational boundaries, and support the development of colleagues.
  • Digital and systems experience, with the ability to connect business and industry needs with technology delivery.
  • Experience operating at a senior level suitable for a Managing Consultant or Senior Manager position.
