Arm is seeking an EDA Optimisation Engineer to help improve the performance, efficiency, and cost profile of its engineering platforms through data-led analysis and operational optimisation. The role sits within the Productivity Engineering group and is focused on using metrics, automation, data engineering, and problem solving to drive better outcomes across large-scale compute and infrastructure environments. The work is intended to improve utilisation, efficiency, cost performance, and forecasting accuracy, while also informing broader infrastructure and vendor strategy.
What you will do
- Contribute to improvements in HPC scheduling and the overall efficiency of the infrastructure that supports engineering workloads.
- Support benchmarking and performance evaluation activities that help guide platform and infrastructure decisions.
- Build dashboards and visualisations that improve visibility into platform behaviour and operational performance.
- Analyse cost and usage reporting together with infrastructure metrics to support forecasting, budgeting, and optimisation work for large-scale compute environments.
- Create and maintain analytics frameworks that can measure utilisation, capacity, and workload behaviour reliably at scale.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and finance partners so that decisions are grounded in data rather than assumptions.
- Help shape optimisation approaches across HPC compute, cloud, emulation, and FPGA environments, with an emphasis on scalability and vendor strategy.
What Arm is looking for
- A solid background in distributed HPC environments, cloud platforms, and data engineering or analytics.
- Knowledge of EDA workflows and semiconductor engineering environments.
- Strong Python capability, plus experience with data analysis and machine learning frameworks.
- The ability to take complex data and turn it into practical, easy-to-understand recommendations and strategy.
- Comfort working in a metrics-first environment where decisions are driven by evidence and measurable outcomes.
- Experience with IBM Spectrum LSF or another job scheduling system is helpful.
- Familiarity with NetApp or other high-performance storage systems is desirable.
- Experience applying AI or machine learning to workload optimisation or resource management would be an advantage.
- Experience building production-grade data pipelines is desirable.
- Exposure to FPGA and emulation infrastructure would also be beneficial.
What you can expect in return
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and fast-paced team that tackles important platform challenges. The role offers room to grow technically, contribute directly to platform strategy, and make a measurable difference to the performance experienced by thousands of engineers. Arm is looking for a dynamic individual contributor who can help drive improvement across its engineering platforms.
Working arrangements
The role is based in Cambridge, United Kingdom, and Arm operates a hybrid working approach. The company’s hybrid model is designed to support both high performance and personal wellbeing, combining face-to-face collaboration with flexibility. Teams are given the ability to shape their own hybrid working patterns depending on the needs of the work and the team.
