This role sits within Capgemini Invent’s Cloud Advisory capability, part of the wider Business Technology area. The team helps organisations use cloud in a way that supports new business and revenue models, growth, compliance and lower carbon impact. The Cloud Economics area covers cloud business cases, FinOps and cloud value realisation, and the focus of this position is to help clients get the best possible value from their cloud investments throughout the full adoption journey.

You will work closely with clients at all levels of their organisation to shape, design and implement cloud economics approaches that are practical, sustainable and aligned to business goals. The role combines advisory work, hands-on cloud economics expertise, stakeholder engagement and business development. It also reflects the growing influence of AI-enabled services and AI-driven workloads on cloud spend, value realisation and financial governance.

What you will do

  • Assess cloud usage and spending patterns to identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Advise cloud users on how to optimise consumption and introduce policies that align usage with budgets and financial accountability.
  • Prepare and present financial reporting, including forecasts and spend analysis, to senior client stakeholders and application teams so they can understand current and future cloud costs.
  • Create cloud governance frameworks, including policies, guardrails and best-practice controls that support cost discipline.
  • Deliver training and enablement on FinOps practices and help build a culture where teams are accountable for cloud spend.
  • Work with cloud vendors and manage those relationships as part of the wider advisory engagement.
  • Bring awareness of how AI affects cloud economics and how it fits into modern FinOps operating models.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the client organisation to design and implement cloud economics models that support transformation and long-term value.
  • Contribute to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitches and client-hosting activities.
  • Support internal practice development through campaigns, think-tanks, whitepapers, operations, recruitment, team activities and offering development.
  • Take part in learning and development activity, including training and certifications that build your capability and support your career progression.

What the company is looking for

  • Experience delivering FinOps projects and related initiatives.
  • Experience defining and setting up FinOps centres of excellence and governance models for large or mid-sized organisations.
  • FinOps certification.
  • Experience working with at least one major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of cloud billing, metering and usage-based total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Practical experience using FinOps or TBM tools such as Cloudability, CloudCheckr, CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer or Azure Cost Management.
  • Good knowledge of cloud cost optimisation across storage, data transfer, compute, databases and monitoring.
  • Understanding of cloud contracting, commitment and licensing models.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a matrixed organisation and gain support from peers when selling and delivering consulting services.
  • Experience building propositions and delivering them through to execution.
  • Cloud practitioner certification.
  • Comfort in a client-facing role; prior consulting or advisory experience is preferred.
  • For Senior Manager applicants, evidence of leading advisory engagements, creating follow-on opportunities and delivering strong outcomes.
  • For Senior Manager applicants, experience managing teams and multiple workstreams in complex delivery environments.
  • For Senior Manager applicants, the ability to build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • For Senior Manager applicants, business development capability that can help generate around £1m in consulting revenue through existing relationships, company relationships and your own network.
