Anaplan is looking for a Principal AI Architect to help design the next generation of AI capabilities for enterprise planning and decision-making. The role sits at the intersection of advanced generative AI, agentic systems, and business planning workflows, with the goal of creating intelligent experiences that help customers work faster, reason better, and make stronger decisions. The position is based in London, United Kingdom.
The company presents itself as a team of innovators focused on improving business decision-making through an AI-enabled scenario planning and analysis platform. Its customer base includes major global organisations, and the business emphasises a culture built around customer success, ambition, collaboration, and inclusive leadership.
What you will do
- Lead the architecture of generative AI and conversational AI solutions that connect directly with Anaplan’s planning platform.
- Design experiences that allow users to interact with complex planning structures through natural language, including dimensions, hierarchies, and business models.
- Create technical blueprints for agentic AI systems, including frameworks that let autonomous agents communicate with one another, reason through tasks, and complete multi-step workflows.
- Develop prompt-engineering approaches and standards that improve how large language models perform in forecasting, scenario planning, and financial modelling scenarios.
- Work with product managers and engineers to define APIs, data models, and integration patterns for AI-powered product capabilities.
- Assess and recommend AI and machine learning technologies, frameworks, and models that meet enterprise expectations for security, scalability, and dependable operation.
- Take part in architecture reviews and provide direct technical mentorship to engineering teams building AI solutions for production use.
- Partner with data science specialists to convert forecasting models and machine learning methods into scalable production architectures.
- Design observability, evaluation, guardrail, and continuous optimisation mechanisms for generative AI systems.
- Help ensure that AI features are built in a way that supports enterprise-grade reliability and operational excellence.
What the role requires
- Substantial experience in software architecture, with a strong and sustained focus on designing, scaling, and productionising advanced AI and machine learning systems.
- Deep knowledge of large language model architecture, prompt engineering, and generative AI application design.
- A strong understanding of multi-agent systems and autonomous decision-making frameworks.
- Advanced Python programming ability, with practical experience using AI/ML tools and libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise AI frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or Haystack.
- A track record of designing RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures for production-ready AI products at scale.
- The ability to explain complex technical ideas and architecture choices clearly to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience working in SaaS or enterprise software environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of Model Context Protocol and agent communication standards is desirable.
- Experience with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, and semantic search is desirable.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and their AI services is desirable.
