Manufacturing Operations Technical Programme Manager Silicon and Packaging Overview

Company Name Fractile
Job Role Manufacturing Operations Technical Programme Manager Silicon and Packaging
Qualifications Not Specified
Category Engineering Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Bristol

Fractile is looking for a Manufacturing Operations Technical Programme Manager focused on silicon and packaging to help drive the delivery of its hardware manufacturing pipeline. The role sits within the programmes function and reports to the Director of Programmes. It is responsible for keeping the flow of silicon production, packaging design, packaging manufacture, and delivery to the contract manufacturer tightly coordinated from wafer production through to packaged silicon handoff.

This position is central to the interface between Fractile and its external manufacturing ecosystem, including the foundry, OSAT partner, and internal operations team. The successful candidate will ensure that technical milestones, schedules, risks, and handovers are managed carefully and that manufacturing execution stays aligned across all parties involved.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of the full end-to-end programme plan, starting with wafer production and continuing through to delivery of packaged silicon.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day work across the foundry, OSAT provider, packaging suppliers, logistics partners, and contract manufacturing organisations.
  • Monitor progress against the full manufacturing timeline, including wafer starts, fab activity, packaging, assembly, final testing, qualification, and shipment.
  • Manage programme risks, dependencies, schedule changes, and issue resolution in close collaboration with internal leads and external suppliers.
  • Work with silicon, hardware systems, and hardware test teams to keep execution aligned and to resolve cross-functional blockers quickly.
  • Ensure that manufacturing documents, test specifications, quality criteria, and build-readiness materials are complete and ready when required.
  • Support new product introduction work, prototype builds, qualification efforts, and the move into production ramp.
  • Lead manufacturing operations reviews that bring risks to the surface early and clearly, and contribute to wider portfolio-level programme reviews.
  • Help build the Programmes Team by shaping repeatable programme management practices that can scale across the company.
  • Bring effective planning, forecasting, reporting, risk, and change-control approaches from previous roles and adapt them to a fast-moving development environment.
  • Help define shared tools, templates, and review cadences that work consistently across silicon, hardware, manufacturing, and software programmes.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in technical project management, operations, supply chain, or programme management within semiconductors or similarly complex hardware settings. Experience working directly with foundries, OSATs, packaging suppliers, or contract manufacturers is important, along with a strong understanding of semiconductor production and packaging flows.

You should be comfortable managing complicated schedules, multiple stakeholders, technical dependencies, supplier risk, and cross-functional execution. Familiarity with planning and tracking systems such as Jira, Confluence, Linear, Asana, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or PLM tools is expected. Experience in a rapidly scaling company where processes are still being created would be valuable.

Additional experience that would be especially helpful includes advanced packaging, high-performance compute, chiplets, 2.5D or 3D integration, or HBM-based package technologies. Background in silicon bring-up, NPI, qualification, yield tracking, and production ramp would also be an advantage, as would experience working with semiconductor supply chains and partners in Asia.

Fractile is also seeking someone who is highly organised, able to prioritise effectively, and comfortable using a structured approach to risk management. Clear and concise communication is essential, and the role requires someone who can work confidently with both engineers and senior executives.

What is offered

  • A competitive salary that reflects both experience and the specialist nature of the position.
  • Meaningful equity so that team members share in the value created by the company.
  • Private medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • A contributory pension arrangement.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Life insurance and critical illness cover.
  • A diverse and enjoyable office environment.
  • A commitment to equal employment opportunity, diversity, and inclusion.

Fractile describes itself as a company founded in 2022 to rethink the hardware needed for frontier AI inference, with the aim of making high-speed output generation practical at scale. The team is building chips and systems intended to support very high token throughput and long-context workloads, addressing the speed and capacity limits that currently constrain progress in advanced AI applications.

The company says it has recently raised $220 million from investors including Founders Fund and Accel, and that its most important work is still ahead.

There is also an export-control note: the work involves technologies covered by UK, US, and other international export-control rules, so some roles may require extra eligibility checks to confirm compliance with applicable law. The company says it will be transparent about this during the hiring process.

Applications are submitted through the online application form, where candidates can provide their contact details, resume or CV, and an optional cover letter, along with LinkedIn profile and website information if desired.
