AI Engineering Consultant / Senior Consultant Overview

Company Name Capgemini
Job Role AI Engineering Consultant / Senior Consultant
Qualifications Not Specified
Category Healthcare Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Glasgow

Capgemini Invent is looking for an AI Engineering Consultant or Senior Consultant who can help clients move advanced artificial intelligence from experimentation into real-world use at enterprise scale. The role sits within a team that combines strategy, creativity, science, and technology to solve complex business problems. The emphasis is on building practical AI, machine learning, and generative AI solutions that are robust, responsible, and ready for production, rather than simply creating prototypes.

The successful person will help bridge the gap between proof-of-concept work and live business deployment. That means designing the right technical foundations, putting in place the controls and operating practices needed for safe and reliable delivery, and ensuring that AI initiatives create measurable value for clients.

What you will do

  • Assess existing MLOps approaches and introduce a stronger framework, governance model, and set of best practices aligned to industry standards.
  • Design and deliver complete AI and machine learning systems from start to finish, including data preparation, model development, deployment, feature stores, model lifecycle management, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Build and operationalise solutions using modern generative AI and agentic AI frameworks, with experience across tools such as ADK, LangGraph, Microsoft Agent Framework, LlamaIndex, and similar technologies.
  • Translate client AI use cases into practical data and AI architectures, choosing the most appropriate cloud services across hyperscaler platforms.
  • Architect and implement generative AI solutions such as retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agent-based workflows, and orchestration of large language models on Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Embed safety, evaluation, and assurance controls throughout the AI lifecycle so that solutions are ethical, explainable, and responsible.
  • Turn business and functional needs into technical blueprints, then help multidisciplinary teams deliver against those designs.
  • Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure the solutions delivered have clear business impact.
  • Create client-ready demonstrations and proof-of-value materials, contribute to proposals, and support technical deep-dive discussions during business development activity.
  • Develop reusable assets, frameworks, and delivery patterns that can be used across accounts and help strengthen Capgemini’s Data & AI Innovation capability.
  • Contribute to internal and external thought leadership through blog posts, accelerator development, and knowledge sharing on topics such as agentic AI, LLMOps, and evaluation frameworks.

What the team is looking for

  • Experience in a major consulting firm, or in industry with a consulting-oriented mindset, plus the ability to work effectively in a matrixed organisation and gain commitment from colleagues when selling and delivering solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical client sponsors to shape requirements and develop solutions together.
  • A strong record of defining and implementing MLOps strategy and frameworks, and of delivering AI and machine learning solutions from concept through to production at scale.
  • Deep knowledge of generative AI and agentic AI, including retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, evaluation harnesses, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience designing cloud-native data and AI architectures across Azure, GCP, AWS, and/or Databricks.
  • The ability to demonstrate how scaling AI can create business value and meaningful impact.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as Azure, GCP, or AWS, including services like Azure Foundry, AI Studio, OpenAI, AKS, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Bedrock, or SageMaker.
  • Experience building and automating AI and machine learning pipelines using tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Azure ML, Vertex Pipelines, Airflow, or Google ADK.
  • Practical use of generative and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Autogen, Google ADK, or similar tools.
  • Ability to design and implement retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agentic workflows, MCP, and integrations with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Hugging Face.
  • Strong capability in CI/CD and containerisation, including GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Useful additional experience would include AI evaluation methods such as prompt testing, A/B testing, and quality assessment frameworks.
  • It would also be helpful to understand modern data patterns such as lakehouse architectures, vector databases, and relational or NoSQL stores.
  • Familiarity with API gateways, event streaming, and general integration patterns would be an advantage.
  • To apply, you must have lived in the UK for the last five years.

Working environment and culture
