Capgemini Invent is looking for an AI Engineering Consultant or Senior Consultant to help design, build, and run advanced artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI solutions at enterprise scale. The role is focused on turning early-stage AI ideas into production-ready business capabilities, with an emphasis on reliability, responsible deployment, and measurable value. You will work at the point where AI prototypes become live services, helping to put in place the engineering practices, controls, and guardrails needed to make that transition successful.
The team combines strategic thinking, creativity, scientific rigour, and technology delivery to support clients facing complex transformation challenges. The work is intended to be practical and outcome-driven, with solutions shaped by data, validated by science, and delivered with purpose.
What you will do
- Assess existing AI delivery approaches and implement strong MLOps governance, frameworks, and best practices that align with industry standards.
- Design and deliver full AI and ML systems end to end, including data preparation, model development, deployment, feature stores, model lifecycle management, and monitoring.
- Build solutions using modern generative AI and agentic AI frameworks, including tools and approaches such as ADK, LangGraph, Microsoft Agent Framework, LlamaIndex, and related technologies.
- Translate AI use cases into practical data and AI architectures, selecting the most appropriate cloud services across major hyperscaler platforms.
- Architect and implement generative AI solutions such as retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agent-based workflows, and orchestration of large language models on Azure, GCP, or AWS.
- Embed safety, evaluation, and assurance measures throughout the AI lifecycle so that solutions are ethical, explainable, and responsible.
- Turn business and functional needs into technical blueprints and help guide multidisciplinary teams in delivering those designs.
- Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure AI solutions create real business impact.
- Support business development by creating client-ready demonstrations and proof-of-value assets, contributing to proposals, and leading technical deep dives.
- Contribute internally by building reusable assets and frameworks that speed up delivery across accounts and strengthen the Data & AI Innovation team.
- Help develop the capability of the wider organisation through internal communities, best-practice sharing, and framework development.
- Contribute to thought leadership and accelerator development in emerging areas such as agentic AI, LLMOps, and AI evaluation methods.
What the team is looking for
- Experience in a major consulting firm, or in an industry role with a consulting mindset, together with the ability to work successfully in a matrixed organisation and gain commitment from colleagues when selling and delivering solutions.
- Experience collaborating with client sponsors, both technical and non-technical, to shape requirements and develop solutions together.
- Proven ability to design and implement MLOps strategies and frameworks, along with a strong record of delivering AI and ML solutions from concept through to production at scale.
- Deep knowledge of generative AI and agentic AI, including retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, evaluation harnesses, and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience building cloud-native data and AI architectures across Azure, GCP, AWS, and/or Databricks.
- Ability to demonstrate how scaling AI can create business value and meaningful impact.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as Azure, GCP, or AWS, including relevant AI services like Foundry, AI Studio, OpenAI, AKS, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Bedrock, or SageMaker.
- Experience building and automating AI and ML pipelines using tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Azure ML, Vertex Pipelines, Airflow, or Google ADK.
- Practical experience with generative and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Autogen, Google ADK, or similar tools.
- Ability to design and implement RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, MCP-style integrations, and connections to LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Hugging Face.
- Strong working knowledge of CI/CD and containerisation, including GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Useful additional experience would include AI performance evaluation, such as prompt testing, A/B testing, and quality assessment methods.
- Additional familiarity with lakehouse architectures, vector databases, relational databases, NoSQL stores, API gateways, event streaming, and integration patterns would also be beneficial.
- Applicants must have lived in the UK for the previous five years to be eligible for this position.
What you can expect from Capgemini
- The chance to work with a team of ambitious technology specialists who bring emerging tools into real client environments and see their work make a tangible difference.
- Exposure to both public sector and private sector engagements.
- A culture that encourages curiosity, experimentation, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible with technology.
- Access to internal innovation work that showcases the latest models and agentic frameworks, with opportunities to present at major industry events and conferences.
- Hybrid working built into the way the organisation operates, along with flexible working arrangements available to all UK employees on request.
- A benefits package with flexible options that can be adapted to personal circumstances.
- A variable pay component linked to grade, company performance, and personal performance.
- Support for wellbeing through trained Mental Health Champions and access to wellbeing apps such as Thrive and Peppy.
- A strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and creating an environment where people can bring their whole selves to work.
- Office base options in London, Manchester, or Glasgow, with the expectation that you remain flexible about assignment location and may need to travel or spend time away from home at short notice.
- Recognition as a Glassdoor Best Place to Work UK for five consecutive years.
- Association with a company that has been named one of the world’s most ethical companies by Ethisphere for ten consecutive years.
