What you will do
- Keep the Bristol electronics laboratories operating effectively on a daily basis, making sure the facilities, tools, equipment and processes are ready for engineering use.
- Install, configure and calibrate laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, power supplies and similar instruments.
- Carry out planned maintenance tasks to preserve equipment availability, safety and reliability.
- Maintain a laboratory environment that is orderly, clean and aligned with health and safety expectations.
- Monitor electrostatic discharge protections, check that controls remain effective and escalate any problems that need corrective action.
- Support the control of laboratory assets, including tools, equipment and other tracked items.
- Manage the movement of goods in and out of the lab for equipment, components and related materials.
- Help engineering teams prepare test benches, configure equipment and get technically ready for hardware bring-up, validation and characterisation work.
- Write, update and maintain operating procedures, work instructions and other guidance used by laboratory users.
- Provide practical assistance to people using the lab, including advice on safe use of equipment and routine lab processes.
- Assist with board, cable and wire modifications while following agreed procedures and quality requirements.
- Keep thorough and accurate records for equipment, maintenance work, assets and laboratory processes.
- Recognise routine issues in the lab, then resolve them where possible or escalate them promptly to the right colleagues.
About the laboratory team
The laboratory group supports the installation, maintenance, repair and modification of electronic systems and equipment within Graphcoreâs facilities. The team works closely with engineering functions to set up test benches, troubleshoot everyday lab issues and ensure equipment remains safe, available and dependable. - A technical qualification in electronics, electrical engineering or a related field.
- Background in semiconductor, electronics, computing hardware or other advanced technology R&D settings.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality processes, equipment documentation or standard operating procedures.
