Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Bristol

This role is for a Lead AI Engineer who will help design, build, and operationalise advanced artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI solutions at enterprise scale. The position is focused on turning early-stage AI ideas into production-ready business capabilities, with an emphasis on responsible scaling, reliable delivery, and creating measurable value for the organisation and its clients.

What you will do

  • Design and deliver full AI and machine learning systems end to end, covering data preparation, model development, deployment, feature stores, model governance, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Build and apply modern generative AI and agentic AI solutions using current frameworks and tooling, including technologies such as ADK, LangGraph, Microsoft Agent Framework, LlamaIndex, and similar platforms.
  • Translate business use cases into practical AI and data architecture choices, selecting the most appropriate cloud services across major hyperscaler platforms.
  • Lead teams made up of different disciplines to deliver complex technical work and coordinate execution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Architect and implement generative AI solutions such as retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agent-based workflows, and orchestration of large language models across Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Embed safety, evaluation, and assurance controls throughout the AI lifecycle so that solutions remain ethical, explainable, and responsible.
  • Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure AI solutions create real business impact.
  • Develop client-ready demonstrations and proof-of-value materials, support proposals, and provide technical deep-dives that help shape and win work.
  • Create reusable delivery assets and frameworks that can be used across accounts and that help strengthen internal capability.
  • Contribute to internal communities, best-practice sharing, thought leadership, blog content, and accelerator development in emerging areas such as agentic AI, LLM operations, and evaluation frameworks.

What the role calls for

  • Background in a major consulting firm, or in industry with a consulting-style mindset, with the ability to succeed in a matrixed organisation and gain support from peers while selling and delivering solutions.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical client sponsors to shape requirements collaboratively and turn them into workable solutions.
  • Proven ability to design and implement MLOps strategies and frameworks, along with a strong record of delivering AI and machine learning solutions at scale from concept through production.
  • Deep understanding of generative AI and agentic AI, including retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, evaluation harnesses, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience designing cloud-native data and AI architectures using Azure, GCP, AWS, and/or Databricks.
  • Ability to demonstrate how scaling AI can unlock business value and measurable impact.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and scaling AI solutions on at least one major cloud platform, such as Azure, GCP, or AWS, using services like Azure Foundry, AI Studio, OpenAI, AKS, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Bedrock, or SageMaker.
  • Experience building and automating AI and machine learning pipelines using tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Azure ML, Vertex Pipelines, Airflow, or Google ADK.
  • Practical experience with generative and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, Google ADK, or similar tools.
  • Ability to design and implement retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agent workflows, MCP integrations, and connections to LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Hugging Face.
  • Strong working knowledge of CI/CD and containerisation tools, including GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Useful additional experience includes AI evaluation methods such as prompt testing, A/B testing, and quality assessment frameworks.
  • Helpful understanding of modern data architecture patterns, including lakehouse designs, vector databases, and relational or NoSQL data stores.
  • Helpful familiarity with API gateways, event streaming, and broader integration patterns.
  • Applicants must have lived in the UK for the last five years to be eligible to apply.
