An innovative deep-tech business focused on next-generation computing hardware is hiring a machine learning engineer to join its expanding team in West London. The role sits at the intersection of machine learning, advanced hardware engineering, and high-performance data processing, offering the chance to contribute to technology that aims to improve the efficiency and capability of AI systems.
In this position, you will help develop and optimise models for a cutting-edge computing environment, working alongside specialists from software, hardware, and research backgrounds. The work combines conceptual design with hands-on model development, and it is suited to someone who enjoys building practical ML solutions while also thinking deeply about architecture, performance, and how models interact with new hardware paradigms.
What you will do
- Design and improve new machine learning architectures for complex, high-dimensional, and visual data.
- Create and test hybrid models that combine physical and software-based approaches for use on next-generation computing platforms.
- Develop methods for encoding data, as well as preprocessing and post-processing it effectively.
- Build tooling and automated workflows for benchmarking, measurement, and model evaluation.
- Explore leading machine learning and computer vision techniques and adapt them for novel hardware settings.
- Work collaboratively with hardware, software, and research teams to move ideas from concept into implementation.
- Help push forward model performance, efficiency, and overall capability in a fast-moving deep-tech environment.
What the employer is looking for
- Solid experience developing and optimising machine learning algorithms.
- Strong Python skills and familiarity with current ML libraries such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
- Background in data modelling, data preparation, and benchmarking performance.
- Good knowledge of ML evaluation measures and methods for analysing model outputs and behaviour.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative, cross-functional setting.
- At least three years of experience in machine learning, computer vision, data science, or a closely related quantitative area.
- A PhD in a relevant field would be an advantage.
What is offered
- Base salary of up to £100,000, depending on experience.
- Equity in the business through stock options.
- Pension contributions.
- 25 days of holiday in addition to bank holidays.
- An annual allowance for training and development.
- The opportunity to work on advanced AI technology within a fast-growing deep-tech company.
- Clear potential for long-term career growth.
