Capgemini Invent is looking for an experienced cloud architect who can combine deep technical capability with the communication and influencing skills of a consultant. The role sits within transformation work where cloud strategy, architecture, and delivery support are central, and the successful person will help clients shape and execute change across complex environments.
What the role involves
- Act as the technical lead on cloud strategy and transformation assignments, bringing architectural authority as well as the ability to explain the story behind the technology.
- Assess existing environments and design future-state architectures, landing zones, and migration routes across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including multi-cloud and hybrid setups.
- Develop workload placement approaches and modernisation plans, ranging from rehosting through replatforming to refactoring, while balancing commercial, technical, and sovereignty considerations.
- Design cloud and platform foundations that enable AI use cases, including data platforms and patterns for generative AI and agentic AI.
- Turn technical decisions into clear business language, lead workshops with clients, and present recommendations so they can be understood, approved, and supported by the wider organisation.
- Provide solution assurance during delivery and contribute technical credibility to bids, proposals, and proposition development.
- At Managing Consultant level, guide the technical direction across multiple engagements, review and assure solutions, coach colleagues, and help shape and win new work.
- At Senior Consultant level, take ownership of the architecture workstream on an engagement, deliver high-quality technical outputs, and build strong client relationships.
- Contribute beyond client delivery through business development, internal practice activities, and learning and development initiatives.
What you should bring
- Background as an architect, with the ability to operate confidently in a consulting environment.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Highly desirable professional-level cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
- Broad understanding of infrastructure, networking, security, and data, with strong depth in cloud migration and application modernisation.
- The ability to communicate effectively at senior levels, including whiteboarding, running workshops, and presenting with impact.
- Experience designing for AI and data workloads, or at least a strong interest in generative and agentic AI architecture.
- Previous consulting or client-facing experience, ideally in a matrixed organisation.
- TOGAF or another recognised architecture framework is beneficial.
- Experience working with external stakeholders and building trusted relationships.
- Willingness to be fully flexible about assignment location, including periods away from home at short notice.
What you can expect from the environment
The work is varied and can span a broad mix of projects, giving you the chance to build experience quickly. You will have opportunities to work with leadership and experienced consulting managers, learning from them while also challenging ideas and strengthening your own delivery skills and industry insight.
The culture includes regular team drinks, leadership connect sessions, and team days that bring people together in a more informal setting. Capgemini Invent also highlights its recognition as a Glassdoor Best Place to Work in the UK for four years running.
The organisation places strong emphasis on inclusion, wellbeing, and flexible working. It aims to create an environment where people can bring their whole selves to work, supports hybrid working as standard, and offers flexible working arrangements to UK employees. Wellbeing is supported through trained Mental Health Champions and apps such as Thrive and Peppy.
There is also a strong social and environmental focus, with work aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving access to the digital world. The company notes its ethical credentials and its broader commitment to doing the right thing.
Location, working style, and package
- The role can be based from London, Manchester, or Glasgow.
- Hybrid working is embedded in the way the company operates, with flexible working arrangements available.
- You must be prepared for assignments that may require travel and time away from home at short notice.
- The reward package includes flexible benefits and a variable pay component linked to grade, company performance, and individual performance.
