Capgemini Invent is looking for an experienced Managing Consultant or Senior Manager to join its Energy Transition & Utilities practice, specifically within the Central Markets area focused on energy markets, regulation, and systems operations. The team is growing quickly because demand for advisory, consulting, and transformation support across the energy sector is increasing, and the business is seeking someone who can help shape and lead major client work in this space.
The wider practice works with organisations across energy networks, retail, central markets, water, and nuclear. The role sits in a team that combines deep utilities knowledge with strategic transformation capability, digital and data understanding, and a collaborative way of working. The successful candidate will bring experience from Great Britain energy markets and will use that background to help clients navigate technical and regulatory change, improve whole-system outcomes, and deliver practical transformation across organisations and industry participants.
What you will do
- Lead the design, review, and assessment of technical changes affecting central energy industry systems.
- Take responsibility for implementing industry change from the viewpoint of a central code body, ensuring the right parties are coordinated and aligned throughout the process.
- Provide senior-level advice to clients and stakeholders on the technical elements of the regulatory framework and the systems that support it.
- Convert policy shifts, regulatory developments, market changes, and technical updates into practical delivery approaches that can be implemented by organisations and programmes.
- Run engagement, training, and support activities for industry participants and senior stakeholders.
- Help shape and deliver strategies that improve outcomes for energy consumers and for the wider energy system.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts that strengthen service quality and operational effectiveness.
- Manage complex workstreams and multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accountability for delivery, quality, and outcomes in situations where the path forward may be unclear.
- Contribute to the broader Energy Transition & Utilities practice by developing client relationships, supporting proposals, helping generate revenue, and contributing to the growth of people and capability across the team.
What the team is looking for
- Strong expertise in Great Britain energy market regulation, including the ability to interpret regulatory and policy developments and explain what they mean in practice for organisations and programmes.
- Deep understanding of energy system operations, including how the physical system works, how data moves through it, and the agreements that sit behind it.
- Relevant experience gained through work with transmission operators, system operators, distribution network operators or distribution system operators, or with major delivery partners supporting those organisations.
- Background in central markets or the wider regulated energy system, ideally through work with government, regulators, system operators, code bodies, market bodies, energy suppliers, or network operators.
- Senior leadership and management consulting experience that may include leading complex technical change, working through ambiguity, using modern architecture frameworks and technologies, building trusted relationships with senior clients, resolving issues, shaping major change programmes, defining digital technology requirements, improving operations, and leading stakeholder engagement across multi-party environments.
- Experience leading teams of different sizes and coordinating several workstreams across organisational boundaries to deliver positive, tangible results while also helping colleagues develop.
- Digital and systems experience, with the ability to connect business and industry needs with technology delivery rather than treating them as separate concerns.
- The ability to operate at a senior level in a consulting environment and bridge strategy, regulation, operations, and technology.
- Willingness to be flexible about assignment location and to travel or spend time away from home at short notice when required.
