Capgemini Invent is looking for an experienced Managing Consultant or Senior Manager to join its Energy Transition & Utilities practice, specifically within the Central Markets area focused on energy markets, regulation, and systems operations. The team is growing quickly because demand is rising for advisory, consulting, and transformation support across the energy sector. This role sits in a business that combines strategic thinking, creativity, scientific rigour, and technology-enabled delivery to help clients address current challenges and prepare for future change.

The wider Energy Transition & Utilities practice works with organisations across energy networks, energy retail, central markets, water, and nuclear. The successful candidate will bring experience from the Great Britain energy market environment and use that background to help shape and lead complex technical and regulatory change across organisations and industry participants. The work contributes to broader market transformation and whole-system change, with a strong emphasis on practical delivery and measurable outcomes.

What you will do

  • Lead the development and evaluation of technical changes affecting central energy industry systems.
  • Oversee the implementation of industry changes from the perspective of a central code body, making sure affected parties are coordinated effectively.
  • Provide senior-level advice to clients and stakeholders on the technical aspects of regulation and the systems that support it.
  • Translate policy, regulatory, market, and technical developments into practical delivery approaches and workable solutions to industry challenges.
  • Lead engagement, training, and support activities for industry participants and senior stakeholders.
  • Shape and implement strategies that improve outcomes for energy consumers and the wider energy system.
  • Drive continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Lead complex workstreams and multidisciplinary teams while remaining accountable for quality, delivery, and outcomes in uncertain or ambiguous settings.
  • Contribute to wider Energy Transition & Utilities priorities by building client relationships, supporting proposals, helping generate revenue, and developing people and practice capability.

What the role requires

  • Strong expertise in Great Britain energy market regulation, including the ability to interpret regulatory and policy changes and explain their practical implications for organisations and programmes.
  • Substantial understanding of energy system operations, including how the physical system works, how data moves through it, and the agreements that underpin it.
  • Experience gained through work with transmission operators, system operators, distribution network operators or distribution system operators, or with major delivery partners supporting those organisations.
  • Background in central markets or the wider regulated energy system, such as work with government, regulators, system operators, code and market bodies, suppliers, or network operators.
  • Proven leadership and management consulting skills, including the ability to lead technical change, build trusted relationships with senior clients, resolve issues, shape change programmes, oversee digital requirements, improve operations, and manage stakeholder engagement across complex environments.
  • Experience leading teams of different sizes and coordinating multiple workstreams across organisational boundaries while supporting the development of colleagues.
  • Digital and systems experience, with the ability to bridge business and industry needs with technology delivery.
  • Familiarity with modern architecture frameworks and technologies is part of the broader capability set the team is seeking.
  • This is an experienced-professional role rather than an entry-level position.
