This role sits at the centre of Amazon Logistics operations and is focused on making sure orders move through the network efficiently so customers receive their items on time. The position is responsible for leading a delivery station operation, bringing managers together around safety, quality, and productivity, and setting the operational direction for the site. The emphasis is on strong execution, continuous improvement, and building the future of Amazonâs delivery network.
What you will do
- Lead, support, and develop a team of Area Managers so they can perform effectively and grow in their roles.
- Take ownership of the delivery station, address operational problems as they arise, and improve overall site performance.
- Review how the site is performing against business goals and convert those insights into actions that strengthen operational excellence.
- Partner with support functions including HR, Finance, Delivery Service Partners, IT, Amazon Customer Excellence System, and Engineering to keep the operation running smoothly.
- Create and implement initiatives across the site that improve productivity, quality, safety, and overall operational results.
- Track performance and risk indicators, prepare for changing demand, and keep the station ready to respond to operational needs.
- Coach and mentor managers and teams so they can deliver strong results and maintain high standards.
- Contribute to innovation at the site by identifying better ways of working and supporting improvements to the customer experience.
What the role looks like day to day
You will have responsibility for an entire delivery station, staying close to the daily operation while also helping shape new approaches and improvements. A normal day may involve working with a range of stakeholders, analysing performance and risk data, and planning for different demand levels. You will also spend time developing your team and helping them achieve excellent results.
About the team
Amazon Logistics, known as AMZL, manages the final stage of delivery in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. The team uses continuous improvement and creative problem-solving to get millions of products to customers and to support new delivery ideas and services. The operation includes both warehouse-based teams that prepare items for dispatch and delivery teams working on the road through Amazon Flex. The environment is highly operational, with many locations running around the clock, and the team is described as supportive and people-focused, especially where colleagues work overnight.
The wider logistics organisation is also focused on improving customer experience, solving industry-wide delivery challenges, and reducing environmental impact through new technology and vehicles, including electric vehicles.
What you need
- A degree is required, with the posting also accepting a bachelorâs degree in a relevant discipline such as business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources, or a related subject, or an MBA with stakeholder experience.
- Proven experience managing people and stakeholders successfully.
- Strong written and spoken English, plus intermediate ability in the local language.
- Experience using data or practical evidence to shape business decisions.
- Background in production, supply chain, or another relevant operational area.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen is helpful but not mandatory.
- Experience in a logistics environment is an advantage.
- Professional experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is also desirable.
