This opportunity is for a senior analog IC specialist to join a well-regarded semiconductor business focused on high-speed communications technology. The company develops solutions used in data centres, fibre-optic networks, and 5G infrastructure, and is looking for someone who can act as a key technical leader on complex chip development work.

The position is located in Essex, England, and the working arrangement is mainly office-based, with attendance on site for four days each week. The employer also supports international relocation and can provide visa sponsorship.

What you will do

  • Act as the main technical authority for high-speed analog IC design within the team.
  • Take responsibility for critical chip subsystems and guide them through key design decisions.
  • Set architectural direction that improves performance, efficiency, and overall product capability.
  • Design and develop circuits for advanced semiconductor products used in demanding communications applications.
  • Collaborate with teams in marketing, sales, applications, and product/test engineering to ensure technical work aligns with business and customer requirements.
  • Develop new circuit-level and system-level approaches to push performance further and improve efficiency.
  • Support and mentor less experienced engineers, offering technical advice and helping them grow.
  • Bring specialist RF analog design knowledge, particularly for very high-frequency work at 10 GHz and above.

What the employer is looking for

  • A BSc, MSc, or PhD in Electronics Engineering or a similar subject.
  • Extensive industry experience in analog IC design.
  • A strong, intuitive grasp of CMOS and BiCMOS analog IC design techniques.
  • Experience designing high-speed multi-gigabit circuits.
  • Practical knowledge of Cadence design environments.
  • Experience using Calibre for verification and related tasks.
  • The ability to work as a senior technical contributor and influence design strategy.
  • Experience in RF analog design at 10 GHz+ is specifically called out as valuable.
  • Confidence working across functions and contributing to broader product development discussions.
