Amazon Logistics is reshaping last-mile delivery through its Central Operations function, which focuses on improving route planning, scheduling, and delivery execution. In this role, you would join the EU Central Operations analytics team and help drive the company’s AI transformation by combining operational knowledge with hands-on technical delivery. The position is designed for someone who can work across business operations, analytics, and automation, turning complex operational challenges into scalable, AI-enabled solutions that improve forecasting, capacity management, and overall network performance.

You would be expected to use advanced analytics, SQL, Python or R, and emerging AI technologies to build intelligent dashboards, predictive models, automated reporting, and decision-support tools. The work is aimed at reducing manual effort, improving accuracy, and helping teams make proactive decisions, especially where there is risk of in-station volume issues. The role also involves partnering closely with Operations, Data Science, Engineering, and other stakeholders to design, deploy, and improve automation solutions that can scale across the delivery network.

What you would do

  • Design and deliver AI-based automation that streamlines operational workflows and reduces manual intervention.
  • Build predictive analytics and machine learning models to support forecasting and smarter operational decisions.
  • Create automated decision-support tools and workflows that can be used across the network.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and automation opportunities by carrying out diagnostic analysis on complex data sets.
  • Combine business rules with technical automation to redesign and improve daily operational tasks.
  • Use predictive and descriptive analytics to monitor performance, spot trends, and surface issues early.
  • Develop scalable analytical solutions using SQL and Python or R.
  • Build and maintain dashboards with automated alerts and anomaly detection capabilities.
  • Construct automated data pipelines and ETL processes to provide timely insights.
  • Document repeatable analytical workflows and automation processes so they can be reused and scaled.
  • Implement data quality checks and automated validation mechanisms.
  • Deploy code and automation in line with software development best practices.
  • Lead projects from concept through implementation and scaling, making practical trade-offs between speed, quality, scalability, and resources.
  • Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions.
  • Communicate technical ideas clearly to business audiences and explain business priorities to technical teams.
  • Present recommendations and automation proposals to leadership.
  • Influence cross-functional partners to adopt new automated ways of working.
  • Mentor colleagues and help build shared understanding across operational and technical functions.
  • Evaluate new AI technologies and determine how they can be applied to business challenges.

Central Operations is described as being at the forefront of the organization’s AI transformation, building intelligent systems that improve how deliveries are planned, executed, and optimized. The broader aim is to create customer delivery experiences that are smoother and more reliable through data-driven automation that can scale globally.

This is a role for someone who can bridge the gap between operational needs and technical possibilities. It offers the chance to develop deep knowledge of AMZL systems, AI and machine learning applications, and automation frameworks while balancing tactical delivery with longer-term strategic thinking.

What you need

  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification, in Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or Business.
  • A preference for candidates with a degree or equivalent in a technical or analytical field.
  • Experience creating AI or machine learning models, or building automated workflows, in production environments.
  • Experience using business intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, or Power BI.
  • Experience working with AWS and modern data infrastructure such as Redshift and S3.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation, business requirements, and functional specifications.
  • Experience in process automation, workflow optimization, or intelligent systems.
  • Experience working in agile or iterative development settings.
  • A track record of delivering technical solutions that solve real business problems.
  • Strong analytical capability, including advanced SQL and programming in Python or R.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Confidence in influencing cross-functional teams and building effective working relationships.
  • An interest in continuous improvement and AI-led process enhancement.
