SAP ABAP S/4 Hana Architect – UK Overview

This role is for a senior SAP technology architect focused on ABAP within S/4HANA, based in London. The position sits within Infosys’ delivery organisation and is aimed at someone who can combine deep technical expertise with architecture, design, and stakeholder engagement across the software development lifecycle.

What you will do

• Work with important stakeholders to understand business and technical needs and translate them into workable solution designs.
• Apply technical expertise throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through architecture definition and design.
• Create strong design artefacts and other documentation that support delivery quality and consistency.
• Evaluate whether proposed solutions are technically viable and identify efficient ways to meet client requirements.
• Operate as part of a delivery team and coordinate closely with both offshore and onshore colleagues.
• Contribute to a workplace culture that encourages learning, collaboration, high standards, and respect for diversity.

Technical skills and experience needed

• Extensive practical experience with SAP S/4HANA ABAP, including familiarity with the latest platform releases.
• Hands-on use of Eclipse and ADLC tools.
• Direct experience with S/4HANA ABAP features such as workflows, AMDP, CDS, BRF+, and BOPF.
• Working knowledge of REST, SOAP, and OData services, along with SAP AIF, in-app extensibility, and Adobe Forms.
• Broad ABAP/4 development experience covering ALV reporting, interactive and classical reports, OSS note implementation, Smart Forms, Menu Painter, user exits, BAdIs, RFCs, dialog programming, and the Data Dictionary.
• Ability to plan, design, build, implement, and test ABAP solutions including scripts, custom reports, user enhancements, dialog programs, and custom objects such as Z-tables and match codes.
• Experience supporting customisation of Fiori applications.
• Strong capability in performance analysis and troubleshooting using SE30, ST05, and ST22, including runtime optimisation, tuning, issue resolution, and capacity planning.
• Knowledge of MES interfaces, web services, SOA Manager, and DRF.
• Experience using AIF for interface monitoring.
• Understanding of the PP module is desirable.

Preferred background

• Experience in the life sciences sector is preferred.
• Previous work in pharmaceutical environments is also preferred.
• Ability to work in more than one language is an advantage, but English is required.
