An exciting, fast-growing technology business in Cambridge is building cloud platform services for the AI and deeptech community. Backed by experienced and successful entrepreneurs, and already supported by significant investment and revenue, the company is positioned for strong growth. It is seeking a senior DevSecOps / cloud security specialist to take a lead-level role across all security matters for its cloud platform, infrastructure, and production environments.

The successful person will be responsible for shaping and strengthening the security posture of the platform, with a particular focus on resilience, security testing, and the implementation of robust best practices. This is a hands-on expert role with broad ownership across cloud security, infrastructure security, and production support.

What you will do

• Own security across the cloud platform, infrastructure, and production estate, acting as the senior point of expertise for security-related decisions.
• Develop and apply security best practices for a cloud platform serving AI and deeptech customers.
• Improve resilience across services and production systems, helping the business build secure and dependable infrastructure.
• Plan and execute security testing to identify vulnerabilities and validate controls.
• Work on securing cloud environments built on AWS and other hyperscale providers.
• Use infrastructure-as-code and scripting/programming skills to support secure platform engineering, including work in Python, Go, Bash, or similar tools.
• Address identity and access management, including identity federation and access-control design.
• Secure cloud networking components such as VPCs or VNets, subnets, routing, VPNs, and private endpoints.
• Support the security of compute services including Kubernetes, virtual machines, and serverless workloads.
• Consider the security of storage services and managed databases within the cloud environment.
• Help manage cloud cost optimization and resource governance in a secure and controlled way.
• Troubleshoot production issues and assist in resolving live operational problems.
• Work with key customers when technical issues require direct engagement.
• Play a pivotal role in the company’s growth by helping define and maintain a strong security foundation.

What the company is looking for

• Strong, practical experience securing cloud infrastructure, particularly on AWS and other major hyperscale platforms.
• Programming or scripting experience for infrastructure-as-code work, ideally using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
• Deep knowledge of IAM and identity federation.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, including VPC/VNet design, subnets, routing, VPNs, and private endpoints.
• Experience securing different cloud compute models such as Kubernetes, VMs, and serverless services.
• Knowledge of storage and managed database security in cloud environments.
• Ability to support cloud cost optimization and resource governance.
• Confidence troubleshooting production issues and working directly with important customers.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related subject, or equivalent professional experience.
• Helpful additional background would include secure multi-tenant environments, HPC administration, and familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.

Working arrangement

This is a hybrid position based in central Cambridge, with attendance in the office expected for around two to three days each week.
