Job Type Full Time
Location Cambridge

Arm is seeking an experienced senior information developer and technical writer to join its Tech Comms Solutions team in Manchester. The role focuses on producing high-quality documentation for complex silicon intellectual property and system-level platforms, helping engineers and partners integrate, configure, and deploy system-on-chip solutions. The work covers both hardware and low-level software, and it plays a direct part in silicon bring-up, validation, tape-out readiness, and customer enablement.

What you will do

  • Create and maintain documentation for SoC hardware and software components, including configuration information, register descriptions, and build instructions.
  • Write developer-facing content for hardware blocks, RTL interfaces, firmware, build systems, and integration workflows.
  • Partner with engineering subject matter experts to gather technical detail, confirm accuracy, and turn complex information into clear documentation.
  • Support documentation needs across overlapping release cycles for sophisticated silicon IP and system platforms.
  • Help engineers and external partners understand how to integrate, configure, and deploy SoC-based solutions.
  • Contribute documentation that supports silicon bring-up, firmware development, system integration, validation, and successful customer adoption.
  • Set up and refine documentation standards, review steps, content architecture, terminology, and reuse strategies so the documentation model can scale across programs.
  • Use structured authoring tools and version control systems to build modular, source-driven documentation.

What Arm is looking for

  • At least four years of experience as a technical writer or information developer, with evidence of handling complex documentation work across multiple projects and release cycles.
  • Ability to read technical specifications and design documents and turn them into accurate, usable content.
  • Interest in learning new technologies and standards, along with the flexibility to adapt as priorities change.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in cross-functional engineering environments.
  • Preferred background in documenting low-level software or hardware in a semiconductor or SoC setting, including firmware, board support packages, boot flows, and system configuration.
  • Helpful experience with hardware design concepts, RTL and IP integration, chip validation, bring-up processes, FPGA prototyping, or embedded software development.
  • A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification is desirable; examples include computer science, physics, maths, English, linguistics, or law.

What you can expect in return

  • The chance to work with exceptional colleagues on advanced SoC platforms and integration flows.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunities to grow your career in a challenging technical environment.
  • A salary range of £57,900 to £78,400 per year.
  • No relocation support is available for this role.
  • If skilled worker sponsorship is required, Arm will cover the employer-side sponsorship costs.
  • The selected candidate must pay their own visa application fee and Immigration Health Surcharge.

Working arrangement

Arm describes this role as part of its hybrid working approach. The company aims to balance in-person collaboration with flexibility, and the exact pattern for this position will be confirmed during the application process. Arm also notes that local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations may limit flexibility in some cases, and it will work with candidates to find the best workable arrangement.

Additional information

Arm provides recruitment accommodations for candidates who need adjustments during the hiring process. Examples include extra breaks between interviews, documents being read aloud, or help with office accessibility. Requests are handled confidentially and only shared as needed to arrange the support.
