This is an opportunity for an experienced mixed-signal integrated-circuit design engineer to join a fast-growing biotech start-up in West London. The business is developing semiconductor technology with the potential to improve healthcare outcomes for millions of people, particularly through chip-based solutions for neurological conditions. The company has already received recognition for its semiconductor work and is now expanding its silicon team.
The role sits at the centre of the engineering effort and offers the chance to work closely with the CTO and technical lead on the full IC design journey. You would be involved from the earliest stages of concept development and architectural definition, through specification, integration, tapeout, and post-silicon testing. The position also provides the opportunity to learn from experienced chartered engineers while contributing directly to product development in a highly innovative environment.
What you will be doing
- Contribute to the design and delivery of mixed-signal ICs for healthcare and biomedical applications.
- Work with the CTO and technical lead across the entire design flow, from initial concept and architecture through to specification, integration, tapeout, and post-silicon verification.
- Help advance chip-based solutions aimed at neurological conditions.
- Play an active role in the company’s silicon team as it grows.
- Support product development in a start-up setting where flexibility and broad involvement are important.
- Learn from seasoned chartered engineers while helping shape cutting-edge circuit development.
What the employer is looking for
- A master’s degree or PhD in microelectronics or a similar subject area.
- Several years of hands-on industry experience in analogue or mixed-signal IC design.
- Deep expertise in low-power CMOS design.
- A proactive start-up attitude and enthusiasm for working in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong interest in the biomedical field and in technology that can make a meaningful impact.
- Any experience or knowledge in neuroscience or neural signal processing would be advantageous, though it is not required.
- Experience with power management design would also be useful.
- Previous work in a start-up, especially in a role requiring adaptability and a wide range of responsibilities, would be a strong plus.
What is on offer
- Compensation based on experience.
- Hybrid working.
- Visa sponsorship for suitable candidates.
- Relocation assistance if needed.
- The chance to join an award-winning biotech company working on semiconductor solutions with real healthcare impact.
- An opportunity to contribute to innovative technology aimed at neurological conditions.
- Close collaboration with experienced technical leaders and chartered engineers.
