Ping Identity is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team and help build capabilities that secure and govern AI agents across the Ping platform. The work is centered on identity and access management, with responsibilities that span the full stack and contribute directly to features that support customers in identifying, securing, and governing AI agents. The team operates in a fast-moving, collaborative, cross-functional, and global environment, and the company is seeking someone who can turn ideas into production-ready capabilities while bringing strong technical judgment, curiosity, and a willingness to experiment.
What the role involves
- Develop identity and access management functionality across the Ping platform, working from infrastructure and database layers all the way through to the user interface.
- Contribute to the architecture and implementation of APIs, models, workflows, orchestration surfaces, and service components.
- Explore emerging technical areas, build prototypes, and collaborate with senior technical leaders and product teams to transform validated concepts into product features.
- Work closely with product management, UX, and engineering partners across Ping to refine ideas and deliver solutions that are elegant, usable, and able to scale for customers.
- Participate in the full software delivery cycle, including design, coding, testing, release rollout, and post-release production support.
- Use AI development tools such as Claude Code as part of everyday engineering practice to speed up research, code exploration, prototyping, implementation, and documentation, while continuing to apply sound engineering judgment.
- Share technical knowledge, contribute to design conversations, review code, and support other engineers throughout delivery.
- Stay effective in a rapidly changing environment and adapt to shifting customer needs, new technologies, and evolving working practices.
What Ping is looking for
- Experience designing, building, testing, and operating production services, ideally using Java, JavaScript, Google Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes, with a willingness to broaden technical skills.
- Ability to work with AI engineering tools to accelerate discovery and delivery without losing sight of engineering quality and judgment.
- Background in building production services, distributed systems, or shared platform capabilities.
- Experience creating APIs, RESTful services, integration contracts, and data or domain models.
- Track record of taking unclear requirements or ambiguous problems and turning them into designs, prototypes, and production-ready solutions.
- Experience in authentication, authorization, and identity management.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions clearly, collaborate across teams and time zones, and help other engineers through feedback and knowledge sharing.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional, and international setting.
Nice-to-have experience
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, token exchange, policy systems, delegated administration, or identity data modelling.
- Experience working on AI agent identity and non-human identity.
- Familiarity with MCP, agent skills, and related agent integration concepts.
- Experience shipping cohesive outcomes across multiple codebases, teams, or product areas.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
- Experience working as part of an international team.
- Experience contributing to technical designs and proof-of-concept work.
