Senior/Staff Digital ASIC Design Engineer Overview

Company Name IC Resources Recruitment
Job Role Senior/Staff Digital ASIC Design Engineer
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Rest of UK

A leading semiconductor business is seeking an experienced senior or staff-level digital design engineer to take the lead on digital design work for advanced power management integrated circuits. The position offers ownership of both existing intellectual property and new development, and it involves close collaboration with engineers from several disciplines to deliver high-quality, low-power silicon solutions.

What you will do

  • Take charge of digital core development for sophisticated power management ICs.
  • Create new IP and refine existing designs, including shaping effective block-level architectures.
  • Partner with verification specialists to uncover and resolve issues early, helping ensure the design is ready before tape-out and remains robust in later revisions.
  • Own the digital flow from RTL through synthesis, timing closure, and final GDS, with a strong focus on quality and power efficiency.
  • Carry out synthesis and timing closure tasks, manage DFT work, and coordinate physical implementation activities with external design partners.
  • Write and maintain clear design documentation and internal technical specifications.
  • Use low-power design practices, including clock gating, while producing solid RTL code.
  • Help evolve digital IP for both current products and future platform generations.

What the employer is looking for

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering, ideally at MEng level, or an equivalent qualification and background.
  • Strong senior-level experience in SystemVerilog RTL design and verification.
  • Experience across the full digital design and synthesis flow.
  • Understanding of both synchronous and asynchronous design methods.
  • Knowledge of low-power design techniques.
  • Experience with Cadence tools or comparable design and simulation software.
  • Desirable scripting skills in Python, TCL, or CSH.
  • The ability to work effectively with verification, physical design, and other multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Relevant experience in semiconductor or IC design, ideally in power management or similarly complex digital systems.

What is on offer

  • Salary between £65,000 and £75,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Performance bonus potential.
  • Equity opportunities.
  • Standard industry benefits.
  • Visa sponsorship for candidates based outside the UK.
