Arup is seeking a solution architect to join and help expand its client-facing solution and enterprise architecture capability. The role sits within a multidisciplinary consulting environment and focuses on designing sustainable digital solutions, supporting their implementation, and helping shape technology direction for clients. The work is varied and may also extend to digital solutions that support Arup’s own building engineering and design services.
What the role involves
- Leading high-level design discussions and architecture activities directly with clients.
- Working alongside software development teams to provide architectural assurance during delivery and implementation.
- Creating technology strategy and analysis that informs solution direction and client decision-making.
- Helping design and deliver digital solutions that use cloud services, data integration, analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and GIS applications.
- Occasionally contributing to solutions that complement Arup’s wider engineering and design work.
- Operating as part of a collaborative consulting team that brings together different disciplines to deliver outcomes for clients and communities.
Experience and background sought
- Applicants should have worked in at least one built environment market, such as energy, water, rail, highways, aviation, buildings, or sustainability.
- Experience in the energy sector is especially desirable.
- Candidates should have delivered technology projects or products in an IT function, IT services organisation, or IT consulting setting.
- A strong grasp of one or more architecture disciplines is expected, including solution architecture, data architecture, cloud architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP, integration architecture, or enterprise architecture.
- The role requires experience with business analysis, digital requirements management, and project management techniques.
- Applicants should be comfortable writing non-functional requirements and managing associated risks and dependencies.
- Experience across the software development lifecycle is important, along with familiarity with both agile and waterfall delivery methods.
- Experience with the Government Digital Services Framework is also required.
