What you will do

  • Deliver comprehensive wing engineering support as part of the broader wing design organization.
  • Respond to day-to-day repair needs for the A400M fleet and ensure all work complies with DOA obligations and export control requirements.
  • Manage modification work through formal review stages, including preliminary and critical design reviews.
  • Work in close partnership with the offshore engineering team, providing clear technical guidance and helping ensure deliverables are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Take the lead on structural design and development of primary wing components, following the applicable engineering processes, methods, and standards.
  • Use a solid understanding of aerospace design principles, airworthiness constraints, and manufacturing realities to shape practical design solutions.
  • Review and verify design deliverables such as 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of material to confirm they meet project expectations.
  • Provide specialist advice on structural design, materials, stress sizing, manufacturability, and certification limitations.
  • Support broader design activities such as improving processes and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Help drive issue resolution by working with teams across stress, manufacturing, quality, and configuration management.
  • Ensure work follows DMU, PLM, and configuration control procedures.
  • Prepare and present design reviews at different maturity stages, including PDR, CDR, and DFM.
  • Manage engineering data, documentation, and deliverables so they remain compliant with quality and configuration requirements.
  • Contribute to digital continuity initiatives and ongoing improvements in design and communication practices.

What you need

  • Strong hands-on experience in aerospace structural design.
  • Proven background working on aircraft programmes such as A320, A330, A350, A380, or A400M.
  • Good understanding of aerospace design principles and airworthiness requirements.
  • Knowledge of both metallic and composite design methods.
  • Familiarity with design processes and procedures including RSDP, SIDP, AP, ABD, AIPI, and AIPS.
  • Experience with DocMaster and Airnavx.
  • Experience as an aeroplane design signatory, such as a checker or approver.
  • Valid VPM and PASS SSI training certificates.
  • Experience participating in DMU reviews, interface point management, and multi-partner working environments.
  • Knowledge of MOD, DQN, and RDR.
  • Working knowledge of tools and systems including CATIAv5, SAP (PAC/PEA), PASS, Zamiz, PRIMES, GEMAVICC, GILDA, COLINA, TREND, VPM, and AIRNav.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with offshore engineering teams and multiple internal functions.
  • Comfort managing technical data, documentation, and configuration-controlled deliverables in a structured engineering setting.
