Arup is looking for an experienced and ambitious transport modeller to join its Transport Consulting team. The role sits within a collaborative and creative environment that is central to the organisationâs transport planning and modelling work. The wider transport planning business operates across the UK and internationally, working with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to a global transport modelling community. The team supports complex, high-profile transport projects that help create more sustainable and resilient transport networks.
What you will do
- Contribute to major transport projects and bids by building and applying strategic transport models.
- Use data, modelling techniques and innovative approaches to tackle real transport planning challenges.
- Work with senior transport modellers and project managers to develop models, forecast future conditions, test mitigation options and assess schemes.
- Take part in the full modelling workflow, from analysing data and developing models through to producing reports, creating visual outputs and engaging with clients.
- Collaborate with colleagues across different disciplines and locations, including supporting work elsewhere in the UK and internationally when required.
- Help deliver challenging and high-profile schemes while continuing to strengthen your own technical capability and modelling expertise.
What Arup is looking for
- Previous experience in transport modelling, ideally covering highways, public transport and/or multimodal models.
- Practical experience using one or more of VISUM, SATURN, CUBE or MATSim, including model development, calibration and validation.
- A solid understanding of TAG requirements, forecasting and scenario testing.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to produce clear, well-presented technical reports and notes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both on your own and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- An interest in growing your strategic modelling skills, broadening your technical toolkit and developing your career in a supportive team.
Working location and team context
The main location shown for the role is Birmingham, West Midlands, with additional listed locations in Edinburgh, Nottingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Leeds, Cardiff, Newcastle and Glasgow.
