This is a chance to join a well-established, award-winning AI software business that creates advanced tools used by major organisations to handle and analyse very large sets of complex documents. The company has been operating for more than ten years and combines deep technical capability with practical, real-world impact. It works at enterprise scale while still keeping the pace and flexibility of a product-led technology company.
The role sits within a growing application engineering team focused on production systems that bring together software engineering, data, and applied AI. You would be part of a cross-functional product group building features that customers use directly, with the opportunity to shape how the product evolves.
What you would do
- Design, build, and extend full-stack features across a large and technically complex platform.
- Work on systems that process high volumes of data, where performance and scalability are important.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, QA colleagues, and AI research and development teams.
- Take responsibility for features from the initial design stage through implementation, release, and later improvement.
- Contribute ideas for product and technical enhancements rather than simply following fixed specifications.
- Help deliver production-grade software that is used directly by customers.
Technology environment
- JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Node.js.
- Modern frontend frameworks, with the team currently moving toward React.
- PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
- AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Java or Python experience would be an advantage.
What the employer is looking for
- A strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar subject, ideally with a first-class or 2:1 degree from a well-regarded university.
- Typically 3 to 5 years of commercial software engineering experience, with some flexibility for outstanding candidates.
- Experience building software for production, ideally in a full-stack setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and clear logical thinking.
Working arrangement and package
- Permanent role.
- Salary of £50,000 to £65,000 depending on experience.
- Hybrid working from Cambridge or London.
- Three days per week expected onsite.
