Armâs Systems Engineering organisation creates the hardware foundations for Arm System IP, which includes the interconnect, memory, and other system-level building blocks that help Arm processors and additional IP integrate efficiently into SoCs. In practical terms, this work provides the connective tissue that allows processors, accelerators, memory controllers, and peripherals to operate together as a complete system.
Within that environment, the System IP Technical Communications team is responsible for producing documentation for Arm System IP and for the IP Tooling software platform used to configure Arm IP. This role sits at the senior end of that team and combines hands-on technical writing with content strategy, leadership, and cross-functional coordination. The successful candidate will help shape documentation from the earliest planning stages through to delivery, supporting product milestones and helping customers and partners get the most from Armâs technology.
What you will do
- Create, refine, and maintain documentation that is clear, practical, and centred on the needs of users for both System IP hardware and the IP Tooling software platform.
- Work with engineering teams across disciplines to gather detailed technical information, check accuracy, and ensure the final content reflects the underlying products correctly.
- Handle several documentation streams at once, often across different IP projects and release timelines.
- Guide, coach, and oversee other Information Developers, including support for planning documentation work and delivering it on schedule.
- Design and introduce documentation standards, content structures, and review processes that can be reused and scaled across multiple projects.
- Improve the way documentation is produced by exploring better authoring tools, automation, and workflow changes that increase speed and quality.
- Promote strong content quality and help influence documentation direction across System IP initiatives and the wider Technical Communications group.
- Contribute as a senior technical leader, helping define content strategy and supporting the documentation needed for important product releases and customer success.
What we are looking for
- At least four years of experience in information development or technical writing, with a track record of managing large and complex documentation sets.
- Experience coordinating content across multiple projects and release cycles.
- Strong problem-solving ability, with a flexible and pragmatic approach to getting work done.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, especially in collaborative, multi-disciplinary settings.
- Interest in learning about new technologies and keeping documentation practices up to date.
- Confidence using professional documentation tools and working in ways that support efficient, scalable publishing.
- Adaptability and openness to change.
- A collaborative, inclusive, and open-minded approach to working with others.
Helpful experience and background
- Experience documenting low-level hardware or software in a SoC, semiconductor, or embedded systems environment, such as firmware, board support packages, boot flows, system configuration, or similar topics.
- Understanding of hardware design concepts such as RTL, IP integration, chip bring-up, validation processes, or FPGA prototyping.
- Exposure to modern documentation toolchains and automation methods, including Markdown or reStructuredText, Jenkins, JSON or YAML, Python, or shift-left content generation approaches.
- A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification, for example in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, English, Linguistics, or Law.
- Previous people leadership experience, or a strong interest in developing into a leadership role in the future.
What Arm offers
- An inclusive team culture that values continuous improvement.
- Recognition for both leadership and technical expertise.
- The chance to help shape documentation strategy and support people development for critical System IP products.
- Opportunities to contribute to documentation for innovative products and solutions.
- Flexible hybrid working.
- Competitive rewards.
- The opportunity to expand your influence within a global organisation focused on innovation and continuous development.
- No relocation package is available for this position.
- If Skilled Worker sponsorship is required, Arm will cover the employerâs sponsorship-related costs, but the successful applicant must pay the visa application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
