This is a senior-level data science role within Valtech’s AI portfolio, focused on building advanced analytics and decision intelligence solutions that combine machine learning, causal reasoning, and generative AI. The position is designed for someone who can move beyond retrospective analysis and instead create production-ready systems that help shape business decisions in real time or near real time. The work sits at the intersection of data science, machine learning, and GenAI, with applications across areas such as marketing, operations, forecasting, and optimization.

Valtech describes itself as an experience innovation company that works with globally recognized brands and operates in a borderless, international environment. The organization emphasizes continuous learning, meaningful impact, creativity, diversity, autonomy, and collaboration across teams and geographies. The role is intended for someone who wants to contribute to shared AI standards and help build cross-functional architecture alongside data engineers, ML engineers, analysts, and platform teams.

What you will do

  • Develop machine learning solutions for use cases including forecasting, optimization, and recommendation systems, and deploy them into production.
  • Apply statistical, predictive, and prescriptive techniques to solve business problems and improve decision-making.
  • Create reusable modeling approaches that can be applied across multiple domains and scaled within the organization.
  • Design and implement causal inference methods such as uplift modeling, experiments, and quasi-experimental techniques.
  • Convert observational and experimental data into clear, actionable insights for the business.
  • Embed causal reasoning into decision systems that support prioritization, trade-off analysis, and action selection.
  • Integrate generative AI capabilities into data science workflows, including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and agent-based systems.
  • Contribute to intelligent agents and AI-assisted decision-making tools.
  • Combine structured data models with unstructured data and outputs from generative AI systems.
  • Build forecasting models, including time-series, probabilistic, and causal approaches, to support planning and operational needs.
  • Design optimization methods for resource allocation, scheduling, and campaign performance improvement.
  • Ensure models are explainable and can be used effectively in real business contexts.
  • Build and maintain production-grade data science solutions that are robust and maintainable.
  • Work with engineering teams to connect models to scalable APIs and platform services.
  • Support monitoring, reliability, and lifecycle management for deployed models.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and product teams to ensure data is ready and solutions are adopted.
  • Review and validate modeling approaches used by other teams, including forecasting, experimentation, and machine learning work.
  • Help define and spread best practices for AI, machine learning, and data science across the company.

What the company is looking for

  • Strong background in machine learning, statistics, and applied data science.
  • Practical experience with causal inference, experimentation, or decision science methods.
  • Solid understanding of forecasting, optimization, or other analytical modeling techniques.
  • Advanced programming ability in Python and SQL.
  • Experience building and deploying production-ready data science or machine learning systems.
  • Familiarity with model lifecycle management, including training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, with Azure preferred and AWS or GCP also acceptable.
  • Experience with modern data and AI platforms such as Azure ML, Azure AI, Databricks, or similar ecosystems.
  • Experience working with complex, multi-source datasets such as transactional, behavioral, and operational data.
  • Ability to translate business problems into analytical frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on business impact.
  • Ability to explain complex models in a way that leads to practical action.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across technical and business teams.
  • Experience in marketing analytics, attribution, or campaign measurement would be an advantage.
  • Experience with uplift modeling, geo experiments, synthetic control, or marketing mix modeling would be beneficial.
  • Experience with GenAI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, retrieval-augmented generation architectures, or agent frameworks would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools such as Spark, Airflow, or dbt would be helpful.
  • Experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Fabric, or BigQuery would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to advanced time-series methods and probabilistic forecasting would be useful.
  • Experience in Agile, product-led, or consulting environments would be a plus.
  • Candidates must already be based in Bulgaria, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Poland, or Portugal because the role is tied to local employment and collaboration requirements.
  • Applicants are expected to provide a CV showing relevant experience and to answer application questions covering notice period or availability, B2B/FOP status, salary expectations in EUR gross, English proficiency, cloud-based data science experience, causal inference work, and an example of a production solution with measurable business impact.

What is offered
