Product Manager – Distributed Ledger Technology Overview

Company Name Bloomberg
Job Role Product Manager – Distributed Ledger Technology
Qualifications Not Specified
Category Finance Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

Bloomberg’s Global Financial Networks team is developing a new generation of institutional market infrastructure that spans execution, clearing, and settlement, with a focus on tokenized digital assets and distributed ledger technology. The business is looking to modernize highly fragmented market workflows that currently move across feeds, files, APIs, and vendor-specific systems used by asset managers, broker/dealers, market utilities, and other participants. The aim is to build practical, regulated, institutional-grade capabilities that improve synchronization, reduce reconciliation work, support permissioned data sharing, enable atomic transactions, and increase asset mobility by connecting traditional financial infrastructure with emerging DLT networks.

This product area covers research and development across permissioned networks, smart contracts, tokenized cash and stablecoins, tokenized assets and collateral, custody and wallet orchestration, and multi-party workflows. The role sits at the point where traditional capital markets meet digital asset infrastructure, and it requires someone who can help turn that intersection into a clear product strategy and deliverable roadmap.

What you will do

  • Help define and shape Bloomberg’s product strategy for distributed ledger use cases across execution, clearing, and settlement.
  • Translate complex market structure, workflow, and technology information into actionable product direction for institutional digital asset capabilities.
  • Develop product thinking around DLT-enabled trading and post-trade workflows, including smart contract processes, wallet integration, node setup, permissioning, and multi-party state synchronization.
  • Assess how Bloomberg can extend its existing network assets into distributed ledger-based products and services.
  • Work closely with engineering to convert DLT concepts into requirements, technical designs, delivery plans, and roadmap outputs.
  • Support decisions on ledger and node choices, DevNet testing, operational runbooks, throughput and latency analysis, permissioning validation, and future network-role evaluation.
  • Partner with legal, risk, compliance, and security teams to evaluate regulatory, operational, custody, data-sharing, licensing, and reputational considerations.
  • Create internal learning and decision-support materials such as presentations, product briefs, FAQs, and executive-ready explanations that make DLT concepts understandable in Bloomberg language.
  • Represent Bloomberg’s DLT strategy in internal and external conversations with clarity, confidence, and commercial judgment.
  • Prioritize potential use cases by balancing client demand, technical feasibility, regulatory readiness, commercial opportunity, and Bloomberg’s ability to win in the market.
  • Contribute to go-to-market planning, product positioning, sales enablement, and client messaging for emerging distributed ledger offerings.
  • Maintain detailed product documentation, workflow diagrams, implementation guides, partner notes, market research, and internal decision records.
  • Work across teams with urgency, ownership, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Bring awareness of interoperability ledger frameworks, token standards, identity models, and digital asset taxonomies into product discussions.

What Bloomberg is looking for

  • At least five years of experience in product management or product development, with proven exposure to digital asset infrastructure.
  • Experience in financial services is required, including work in enterprise trading environments, critical financial operations, or technology supporting transactional flows.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when turning technical ideas into clear explanations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage several workstreams at the same time.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn complex systems, standards, and industry practices.
  • A strong interest in financial markets, distributed ledger technologies, and market workflow design.
  • Experience with project management, client support, and technical systems design would be an advantage.
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Very strong attention to detail, particularly when producing documentation, workflow diagrams, and similar materials.
  • The ability to work effectively in ambiguity and help move ideas toward execution.
  • Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and engaging with clients and partners.
  • Ability to build trust with both technical and business audiences.
  • The posting notes that the stated years of experience are only a guide and that applicants who can demonstrate the necessary skills will still be considered.
