This Project Manager opportunity sits within a fast-growing deep-tech business developing next-generation wireless and optical communications systems. The work focuses on advanced space and laser communication technology, giving you the chance to contribute to programmes that are intended to reshape global connectivity infrastructure. The role is based in Oxfordshire and follows a hybrid working model, with a requirement to be on site in Oxford for at least three days each week. You will be joining a collaborative engineering setting where the company is scaling its programmes and needs someone who can help keep multiple technical workstreams organised and aligned.

What the role involves

In this position, you will oversee a portfolio of engineering and development projects, supporting delivery from the earliest research and development stages through to testing and deployment. A key part of the job is working closely with engineering teams to ensure plans are realistic, dependencies are understood, and delivery remains on track as priorities evolve.

• Coordinate technical engineering projects across research, development, and product development activity.
• Work with engineering teams to create and maintain practical project plans.
• Monitor schedules, budgets, risks, and interdependencies across several workstreams.
• Liaise with external stakeholders including suppliers, customers, and funding organisations.
• Support reporting, project records, and change-control activities.
• Help strengthen project management tools, processes, and delivery structure as the business grows.
• Contribute to delivery across development, testing, and deployment phases.

What you need to bring

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering projects in technical engineering, scientific, or hardware-focused environments. You should be highly organised, confident working with a range of stakeholders, and comfortable managing multiple moving parts at once. Experience with common project management software such as Jira or Microsoft Project is expected.

• Background delivering projects in engineering, scientific, or hardware settings.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
• Experience using project management tools such as Jira or MS Project.
• Familiarity with structured product development methods, including stage-gate processes.
• Experience on government-funded or aerospace-related programmes would be an advantage.
• Interest in, or exposure to, space, optical, satellite, or laser communication technologies would be helpful.
• Ability to work well in a growing company where processes may still be developing.
