This opportunity is with a global semiconductor company that develops technologies supporting electrification, energy efficiency, and the next generation of connected devices. The team is looking for a Staff Verification Engineer to join its research and development group in Bristol, where the focus is on verifying sophisticated IP blocks that are used in products serving automotive, industrial, energy, and consumer markets around the world.

Role overview

The position centers on ownership of digital IP verification at scale. You would be responsible for taking verification work from the early planning stage through to final sign-off, while helping strengthen the verification approach and testbench structure used by the team. The role sits within a technically advanced R&D environment and involves close collaboration with design and architecture specialists.

What you will do

• Develop a thorough understanding of complex digital IP and lead verification activity from initial planning through to sign-off.
• Build, maintain, and improve verification environments based on SystemVerilog and UVM, including testbench components.
• Create functional coverage models and design constrained-random test cases to exercise the IP effectively.
• Work to close coverage and ensure verification quality targets are achieved.
• Investigate failing tests, identify the underlying causes, and support debugging and issue resolution.
• Work side by side with design and architecture teams throughout the development process.
• Help define verification strategy and contribute to the ongoing development of the IP testbench architecture.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and raise technical or delivery risks early so they can be addressed quickly.

What the employer is looking for

• A degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in digital verification.
• Strong practical knowledge of SystemVerilog, UVM, and SystemVerilog assertions.
• Experience creating verification platforms, frameworks, or reusable verification environments.
• A track record of verifying complex IP and delivering against verification metrics and coverage goals.
• The ability to interpret design documentation and convert it into effective verification solutions.
• Experience using industry-standard EDA tools.
• Strong debugging skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Fluent English communication skills.
