This opportunity is with a technology business building ultra-low-latency systems for financial markets, where both speed and performance are central to the product. The company is expanding its engineering team and wants an FPGA specialist to help develop the next generation of globally deployed trading infrastructure. The role is based in Cambridgeshire, England.
The position sits in a demanding, high-performance engineering environment focused on extremely low-latency digital systems. The successful engineer will contribute across the full FPGA development lifecycle, from architecture through implementation and validation, with close collaboration across multiple technical disciplines.
What you will do
- Design and enhance FPGA platforms used in low-latency financial market applications.
- Develop and refine FPGA architectures to support next-generation trading systems.
- Create RTL implementations for complex digital hardware.
- Assist with verification work to ensure designs are robust and function as intended.
- Support timing closure efforts and help address performance challenges in advanced FPGA systems.
- Carry out system-level validation to confirm the overall solution meets technical and operational requirements.
- Partner with software, DevOps, and hardware teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet strict latency targets.
What the employer is looking for
- Strong practical experience in FPGA development using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Familiarity with FPGA toolchains from Xilinx or Intel, including Vivado and Quartus.
- Background in high-performance digital design or other environments where low latency is critical.
- Good understanding of the complete FPGA design process, including simulation and timing analysis.
- Comfort working in a collaborative environment that moves quickly and expects strong technical delivery.
- Experience in trading systems or high-frequency trading would be beneficial.
