This opportunity is for an embedded software engineer to join a company working on new and exciting projects in wireless technology and IoT. The role is based in Bath, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement and a central city location. It offers a salary of £40,000 to £55,000 plus additional benefits.
What the role involves
- Building embedded software for products and projects in the wireless and IoT space.
- Writing and maintaining code in C for embedded environments.
- Using scripting tools, ideally Python, to support development work.
- Working with embedded microcontrollers, especially ARM and STM32 devices.
- Developing software that runs on real-time operating systems or directly on bare-metal hardware.
- Dealing with communication protocols as part of the embedded solution.
- Getting involved in a wide range of technical tasks and contributing wherever needed.
- Taking on interesting engineering problems and helping move new projects forward.
What they are looking for
- About 2 to 5 years of experience in embedded software engineering.
- Solid hands-on ability with C programming and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with scripting languages, with Python preferred.
- Experience working with embedded microcontrollers, particularly ARM and STM32.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems or bare-metal development.
- Understanding of communication protocols used in embedded products.
- Any background in IoT or wireless technologies, especially LoRaWAN, would be a strong advantage.
- Hardware knowledge or FPGA experience would also be helpful.
- A practical engineer who is adaptable, willing to get stuck in, and comfortable turning their hand to different tasks.
