Deloitte is looking for an experienced Workday Finance Lead to join its Technology & Transformation business within the Enterprise Applications service line. The role sits in a fast-growing Workday Financial Management practice that supports clients across a wide range of industries. The team works on both advisory and delivery engagements, helping organisations shape transformation strategies, design processes, prototype solutions, and implement Workday finance capabilities that improve performance and support innovation.

This opportunity is aimed at someone who can work closely with business leaders and technical teams to turn complex finance transformation needs into practical Workday solutions. The work spans the full lifecycle of Workday delivery projects, from early-stage strategy and requirements definition through to design, configuration, and implementation support. Deloitte is also looking for someone who can contribute to the continued growth of the practice by bringing thought leadership, strong client presence, and a collaborative approach.

What you will do

  • Take part in both advisory and delivery work, supporting clients from transformation planning through to the full delivery lifecycle of Workday projects.
  • Translate business needs into Workday configurations across core finance areas such as general ledger, supplier accounts, customer accounts, banking, and expenses.
  • Work with clients to shape their target operating model, solution architecture, and end-to-end finance processes so they can be enabled through Workday.
  • Lead workshops with senior stakeholders, test and refine requirements, and convert business objectives into workable Workday designs.
  • Contribute to process design, prototyping, and implementation activities as part of Workday finance transformation programmes.
  • Support data migration activities by applying knowledge of Workday transactional data flows and related implementation considerations.
  • Help ensure delivery scope, outputs, and risks are managed effectively across the team.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients through clear communication and strong stakeholder management.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines and support the development of individuals and teams.
  • Communicate complex technical and business topics in a way that is clear and useful for different audiences.

What Deloitte is looking for

  • Experience in ERP, EPM, and cloud computing, including knowledge of storage, platforms, and data.
  • Relevant experience in finance technology or a closely related area.
  • Practical finance transformation experience involving Workday.
  • Ability to turn business requirements into system, application, and process designs that address both functional and non-functional needs.
  • Understanding of Workday transactional data flows, along with the ability to support data migration work.
  • Experience designing and implementing ERP systems.
  • Ideally, certification in Workday Finance, FDM, and Engagement Manager.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Capability to plan and deliver team scope and deliverables effectively.
  • Confidence in managing stakeholders and building strong client relationships through clear communication.
  • Awareness of risk in ERP delivery projects.
  • Ability to work in an inclusive environment and actively support the growth of people and teams.
  • At least two end-to-end Workday implementations.

Additional desirable experience

  • An active Workday Finance certification in one of the following areas: record-to-report, procure-to-pay, or accounting centre.
  • Understanding of current best practice in automation, continuous integration and deployment, and cloud-based delivery models.
  • Comfort discussing technical issues with business stakeholders and business issues with technical teams.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas in plain language for broader audiences.
  • Skill in shaping messages for different audiences and combining technical expertise with accessible storytelling.
  • Business domain or industry knowledge.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and clients that are spread across different locations.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills across functions.
  • Excellent presentation skills, especially when turning business requirements into information models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership capability and self-direction.
  • Experience in consulting, professional services, or a similar environment.

Team and business context

The Workday Financial Management practice is part of Deloitte’s Enterprise Applications service line within Technology & Transformation. The wider business helps clients get the most value from digital transformation investments in finance, supply chain, and IT operations by combining strategy, process design, and technology enablement. Deloitte describes its approach as distinctive, collaborative, and focused on delivering measurable impact for clients.

The firm also emphasises its values and culture. It highlights leadership, integrity, care for colleagues, inclusion, and collaboration as the principles that guide decisions and behaviour. The organisation says it invests in people, builds teams with diverse backgrounds and talents, and aims to create an environment where people can grow and contribute meaningfully.

Working style and flexibility

This role is based in a UK office and follows a hybrid working model. Depending on the needs of the role, you may work from your local office, client sites, virtual collaboration spaces, and remotely. Deloitte says it supports flexible working arrangements, both formal and informal, where possible, and encourages candidates to discuss any flexibility needs during the recruitment process. The company also asks applicants to check with the recruiter about the specific working requirements that apply to the role.

Development, culture, and employee experience

Deloitte says it aims to create an environment where people can bring their full selves to work, feel supported and heard, and have the freedom to grow. The company states that wellbeing matters and that it wants employees to be able to do their best work in a setting that supports them. It also says that learning is continuous, with access to development that builds both technical and personal capability and helps people learn how to lead at any level.

Current team members describe the Workday Finance group as supportive, close-knit, and full of opportunities to work on challenging but enjoyable global client projects. They also mention that the team has a positive social side that helps maintain work-life balance.

Important compliance note

Deloitte explains that the role is subject to personal independence rules because of audit-related regulations. These rules may restrict certain financial interests and some employment relationships for employees and their immediate family members, particularly in relation to audit clients. The recruitment team can provide more detail as the process progresses, and candidates may also contact the Independence team if they want further information.
