Job Type Full Time

Valtech is seeking an experienced Lead Product Manager to join its UK team and help shape complex digital products and services for major clients. The company describes itself as an experience innovation business that works with well-known global brands, combining data, AI, creativity and technology to create better experiences and drive transformation. This role is aimed at a senior product leader who can operate confidently in ambiguous situations, guide teams through difficult product challenges and contribute to the wider direction of the product discipline.

What the role involves

In this position, you will lead some of the organisation’s most complex agile programmes, often spanning multiple teams and specialist disciplines. You will work alongside Valtech’s developers, designers and testing engineers to help deliver products that are both innovative and high quality. A major part of the job is making sure the team is focused on the right solution: one that supports business goals, creates value for users and stands up commercially.

You will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, strategists, delivery leads and senior client stakeholders, including executive-level contacts, to define product and service direction, set priorities, test assumptions, agree how success will be measured and guide work from early ideas through to implementation. The role also places you in a leadership position within programme teams, where you will support and steer other Product Managers as well as the wider delivery group.

Alongside delivery work, you will be expected to contribute to commercial activity. That includes helping with pitches, proposals and business development. You will also play a part in shaping Valtech’s product practice by improving methods, strengthening capability and coaching colleagues so they can grow in their roles.

AI is a significant part of the role. Valtech expects the Lead Product Manager to use AI in day-to-day product work, promote better AI-enabled practices across the team and help design and deliver AI-powered products and capabilities for clients and their users.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead highly complex and uncertain agile projects and programmes, coordinating work across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Partner with internal specialists in development, design and testing to deliver strong digital products.
  • Ensure product work is aligned to business objectives, user value and a viable commercial case.
  • Work with designers, engineers, strategists, delivery leads and senior client stakeholders to shape strategy, prioritise work and define success measures.
  • Guide other Product Managers and support the broader delivery team in a product leadership capacity.
  • Contribute to pitches, proposals and wider business development activity.
  • Help define and improve the product practice, including ways of working, capability building and team development.
  • Coach colleagues and support their learning and growth.
  • Embed AI into your own product management approach and champion better AI use across the team.
  • Support the creation and deployment of AI-enabled products and capabilities for clients and end users.
  • Work across the full product lifecycle, from discovery and hypothesis through delivery, growth and optimisation.

What Valtech is looking for

The ideal candidate is passionate about building excellent digital products and services and has a strong record of delivering end-to-end outcomes with measurable impact. You should be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and balancing competing priorities from multiple leaders. The company is looking for someone who enjoys collaboration, values teamwork and is willing to keep learning and improving.

You should be able to work confidently in uncertain environments, switch between strategic thinking and detailed execution, and maintain momentum even when priorities are competing or unclear. Valtech also wants someone who already uses AI tools in their product management work, can advocate for AI-enabled ways of working and has practical experience building AI-powered products or capabilities. The role also calls for someone who has created their own tools, scripts or workflows to extend AI beyond a standard chat-based interface.

Additional experience that would be especially useful includes broad exposure to the full product or service lifecycle, particularly in commerce; deep expertise in at least one stage of the lifecycle or one industry; experience selling work or securing investment for product ideas; and a background leading teams in large, complex or challenging settings. Experience turning struggling teams into strong agile teams is also valued, as is the ability to see the bigger picture, understand complex systems, identify leverage points and break down organisational silos. Mentoring or line-managing other Product Managers would also be an advantage.

Essential qualifications

  • Strong enthusiasm for creating world-class digital products and services.
  • A proven history of planning and delivering successful end-to-end products or services, with clear evidence of results and impact.
  • Experience working with and influencing senior and executive-level stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach when working with colleagues and clients.
  • A test-and-learn mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities from multiple senior stakeholders and keep work progressing.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the flexibility to move between strategic and detailed work as needed.
  • Practical experience using AI tools and technologies in product management work, plus confidence promoting AI-enabled ways of working within a team.
  • Experience building and launching AI-powered products or capabilities for organisations and their users.
  • Experience creating personal tools, scripts or workflows that expand AI capability beyond a basic chat interface.

Preferred experience

  • Broad and deep experience across the product or service lifecycle, from discovery and strategy through build, run and optimisation, ideally in commerce.
  • Deep knowledge in at least one part of the lifecycle or within a specific industry.
  • Experience selling work or obtaining investment for product ideas.
  • Experience leading teams in large-scale, ambiguous or difficult environments.
  • Experience coaching teams and improving underperforming groups so they become high-performing agile teams.
  • The ability to step back, understand complex systems, identify leverage points and remove silos.
  • Experience mentoring or directly managing other Product Managers.
