This role sits within Google’s Network Infrastructure Engineering organization, which is responsible for fiber design and capacity planning across data centers around the world. The position is part of the broader Technical Infrastructure team, supporting the systems and facilities that keep Google’s products running at global scale. In this leadership role, you will combine technical depth in fiber design engineering with program management and people leadership to help improve global fiber designs and capacity planning across APAC and EMEA.

As a technical program leader, you will work on complex, multi-disciplinary engineering efforts and guide them through the full lifecycle. That includes defining requirements with internal partners, coordinating schedules, identifying risks, and communicating progress and issues clearly to stakeholders. The role calls for someone who can discuss technical trade-offs with engineers, present analyses and recommendations to executives, and provide mentorship and direction to a globally distributed team. You will also contribute to the wider Google Global Infrastructure organization by applying your expertise in fiber design engineering and capacity management.

What you will do

  • Lead technical reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for network spaces located in Google-owned facilities.
  • Coach and support team members across different regions, helping develop capability and consistency within the global team.
  • Own planning and reporting for rack space and power capacity.
  • Define standards and help shape the global design approach for Google-owned spaces.
  • Oversee team-level reporting for projects and resource planning, ensuring visibility into progress, staffing, and priorities.

What Google is looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • RCDD certification or another similar industry-recognized qualification.
  • Eight or more years of experience in fiber construction, installation, and testing.
  • Eight or more years of experience managing people.
  • Experience producing cross-functional reporting and insights tied to capacity management.
  • Experience collecting customer or product requirements for data center build projects.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and organizational skills, with the ability to succeed in a fast-moving global cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, multitask, and maintain close attention to detail.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • A data-driven mindset for investigating and resolving complex issues, plus financial understanding.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, make decisions, and influence others while bringing deep subject-matter expertise.
  • English fluency, since Google requires English for all roles unless the posting explicitly says otherwise.
