Senior System Architect Overview
| Company Name | Fractile |
| Job Role | Senior System Architect |

| Category | Engineering Jobs |
| Job Type | Full Time |
| Location | London |
Fractile is developing silicon, systems, and software intended to push the boundaries of AI by enabling the most advanced models to run much faster and at much lower cost. The company says it has a strong cross-functional team spanning hardware and software, and it is scaling quickly to meet demand and deliver its product at production scale.
In this senior architecture role, you would be responsible for shaping the end-to-end hardware system architecture behind the company’s products. That includes everything from chip-level interfaces and interconnects through to board design, thermal considerations, and full system integration. The role is not limited to drawing up architecture documents; it also involves practical engineering work with digital and verification teams to turn architectural plans into functioning silicon and dependable hardware platforms. You would be expected to take part directly in early prototyping, bring-up, and system testing, while acting as the key connection point between hardware, firmware, and software so that the overall design remains technically coherent.
What you would do
- Set the direction for the system architecture roadmap and take ownership of it, making sure the design balances performance, power consumption, and scalability.
- Contribute to system design from the earliest concept stage through to production, working closely with chip design, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Define the technical requirements for system interfaces, power delivery networks, interconnects, and control subsystems.
- Lead the architectural input for board and platform design used during early bring-up and validation.
- Work with software and firmware leaders to make sure the different layers of the product integrate cleanly and perform consistently at system level.
- Assess new technologies and components and use that evaluation to shape architectural decisions.
- Mentor colleagues and help raise standards for design quality, documentation, and engineering discipline across the team.
- Represent the system architecture function in technical reviews, partner meetings, and customer discussions.
- Take a hands-on role in prototyping, bring-up, and system testing, not just high-level design.
- Act as the bridge between hardware, firmware, and software teams to preserve alignment across the full product stack.
What the company is looking for
- Experience as a Systems Architect, SoC Architect, or in a similar position, ideally in semiconductor or high-performance computing environments.
- Deep knowledge of system-level architecture, including power, thermal, I/O, memory, and interconnect design.
- A strong understanding of digital design workflows.
- Experience delivering complex hardware systems from concept all the way to mass production.
- The ability to define system requirements and manage technical trade-offs effectively.
- Comfort working across multiple disciplines, including hardware, firmware, and software.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect technical depth with practical execution.
- Helpful background in AI acceleration, HPC, or data-centric architectures.
- Helpful experience with FPGA prototyping and system bring-up.
- Familiarity with modern modelling and engineering tools such as SystemC and MATLAB.
- Prior experience in a start-up or scale-up environment, with the ability to work well in ambiguity and fast-moving conditions.
- Applicants should be aware that some work may involve technologies subject to export controls, and additional eligibility checks may be required to ensure legal compliance.
How the team works
- You are given substantial ownership and the freedom to move your work forward independently.
- The team iterates quickly and works directly with senior leadership to turn ideas into hardware on ambitious timelines.
- Engineers across hardware, software, silicon, and modelling collaborate closely to build a product intended to have lasting impact.
- The culture is described as optimistic and pragmatic, with a strong willingness to do the hard work needed to succeed.
- The team values collaboration and believes the best idea should win, regardless of where it comes from.
