This role sits within Vercelâs startups organization and is focused on helping early-stage and growth-stage companies adopt the platform, expand their usage, and become long-term customers. The position blends technical understanding, commercial ownership, and startup empathy. It is designed for someone who can build credibility with founders and technical leaders, identify growth opportunities from product and usage signals, and help shape a repeatable motion for engaging startups in an AI-native era.
Team and role context
Vercel describes itself as an infrastructure company built for the next generation of software, with products and tooling used by builders around the world. The startups team exists to support founders as they make important technical and business decisions early, when those choices can either create a strong foundation or become constraints later. The team is made up of people with backgrounds as founders, engineers, and go-to-market operators, and it values shared ownership, curiosity, resilience, and the ability to work across functions to solve difficult problems.
In this role, you would work with startups that are moving quickly and making architecture decisions that affect performance, scaling, and future flexibility. You would help them understand how Vercel fits into modern web and AI-native development, and you would use your judgment and pattern recognition to turn early customer interactions into scalable plays for the broader startup portfolio.
What you would do
- Build strong, trusted relationships with founders, developers, and technical leaders by rapidly learning their architecture, use cases, and constraints.
- Help new startup customers get activated quickly and guide them toward becoming committed users of Vercel before competitors can win the account.
- Generate pipeline through outbound activity and proactive identification of high-potential startups at an early stage.
- Drive early adoption and first-time success so that Vercel becomes the default stack choice for the customer.
- Work with founders and technical teams as they adopt AI-native features and architectures, explaining how Vercelâs frontend platform supports new workloads, performance demands, and scaling patterns.
- Analyze customer usage and behavior to uncover expansion opportunities and next steps for growth.
- Coordinate with internal partners across functions to move opportunities and customer outcomes forward.
- Use automation, agents, and self-created workflows to increase leverage and spend more time on the most important customer work.
- Help refine early startup sales and engagement approaches into repeatable playbooks that can be used more broadly.
- Operate comfortably in a changing environment where the motion is still being defined and improved.
What the company is looking for
The ideal candidate combines technical curiosity, commercial strength, and a startup mindset. Vercel is looking for someone who can understand complex products quickly, think clearly about how modern web and AI-native applications are built and scaled, and communicate credibly with developers and founders.
- You should be able to recognize patterns quickly and apply that insight to customer needs and growth opportunities.
- You should be comfortable speaking the language of developers and founders and earning trust through understanding rather than title.
- You should have experience owning revenue outcomes across different deal sizes and levels of complexity.
- You should believe that the best revenue results come from helping customers succeed, not from transactional selling.
- You should bring a thoughtful point of view on modern web infrastructure, frontend performance, and the tradeoffs involved in scaling.
- You should be comfortable working in ambiguity and helping shape a teamâs process as it matures.
- You should be motivated by ownership, accountability, and helping customers make strong decisions.
Vercel notes that this background could come from several paths, including building, founding, engineering, or a technical go-to-market role.
