Company Name Anthropic
Job Role Applied AI Security Architect
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This is a senior pre-sales security role focused on helping Anthropic’s largest and most regulated enterprise customers adopt Claude safely, securely, and in line with European compliance expectations. The position sits at the intersection of AI adoption, enterprise security, and regulatory strategy, and is aimed at someone who can confidently lead high-stakes technical conversations with senior security and compliance stakeholders.

You will act as the company’s go-to security authority for demanding customers across EMEA, especially in financial services, insurance, healthcare, and other tightly regulated sectors. The work involves explaining how Claude is built and deployed, addressing concerns around data protection and security controls, and helping customers understand how Anthropic’s products fit into their governance and compliance frameworks.

What you will do

  • Serve as the main security and compliance contact in customer-facing engagements, handling detailed technical questions about Claude’s architecture, data handling, encryption, access control, and deployment choices.
  • Work closely with CISOs, security architects, compliance teams, and data protection officers to interpret their requirements and shape solutions that align with European regulatory standards.
  • Lead deep technical discussions on areas such as network design, EU data residency, retention controls, zero data retention policies, cross-border transfer considerations, API security, authentication and authorization, audit logging, and integration patterns for regulated environments.
  • Support enterprise security reviews, supplier assessments, and due diligence exercises by supplying technical documentation and expert advice.
  • Help customers navigate readiness for the EU AI Act, DORA, and NIS2, while also helping Anthropic position itself effectively in the European market.
  • Partner with Sales and Applied AI colleagues from the earliest customer conversations through deployment.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to deepen internal understanding of Claude’s security capabilities, bring customer feedback back into the company, and influence future product direction.
  • Create security-focused sales collateral, reference architectures, and practical guidance for regulated industries.
  • Travel regularly across EMEA for workshops, architecture sessions, and strategic account meetings.

What the company is looking for

  • At least seven years of experience in enterprise security, cloud architecture, or technical pre-sales, with meaningful exposure to regulated industries in Europe.
  • Strong technical knowledge of enterprise security fundamentals, including network security, identity and access management, encryption, API security, and logging or audit requirements.
  • Hands-on understanding of GDPR topics such as data residency, retention and zero data retention, international transfers, and DPIAs.
  • Familiarity with the EU AI Act as it applies to foundation models.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks and regulatory expectations relevant to European financial services and insurance, including DORA, NIS2, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and guidance from regulators such as the FCA/PRA, BaFin, ACPR, and FINMA on AI and machine learning.
  • A history of leading complex, high-stakes engagements with CISOs, security teams, and compliance leaders at large European enterprises.
  • Strong cloud architecture knowledge across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including VPCs, private endpoints, hybrid connectivity, and the European sovereign cloud landscape.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain sophisticated security topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Good awareness of the enterprise AI market in EMEA and the competitive environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguity and adapt quickly in a fast-moving market.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort working in a sales process that depends on close teamwork.
  • Strong motivation to help regulated organizations adopt AI responsibly and securely.
  • A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A relevant academic background or equivalent professional preparation through coursework, training, or hands-on experience.
  • The company notes that the exact experience expectation will depend on the internal level assigned to the role.

Compensation and benefits

The annual compensation range for this position is £190,000 to £230,000 GBP. Because this is a sales role, the figure is presented as on-target earnings, meaning it includes both base salary and the target commission or bonus component.

  • Competitive pay.
  • Optional equity donation matching.
  • Generous vacation allowance.
  • Parental leave.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • A pleasant office environment designed to support collaboration.

Working arrangement

This role follows a hybrid model. Staff are expected to spend at least 25% of their time in one of the company’s offices, and some positions may require more office presence. The job is based in London, UK, and includes regular travel throughout EMEA.
