This is an opportunity to join a growing software business that is investing in new products, expanding its customer base, and continuing to evolve its technology. The role sits within a collaborative engineering team where developers are trusted to own features end to end, from early ideas and design through to deployment and ongoing improvement. You will work on modern web applications as well as established platforms used by organisations in a range of sectors, so the work combines new product development with the maintenance and enhancement of live systems.

What you will be doing

  • Creating new product features and functionality across a variety of applications and services.
  • Developing and supporting APIs that connect different parts of the platform.
  • Working across both backend and frontend technologies as part of full stack delivery.
  • Improving and maintaining existing applications that are already in production use.
  • Contributing to platform upgrades, enhancement work, and migration initiatives.
  • Writing automated tests to support quality, stability, and maintainability.
  • Taking part in code reviews and helping uphold good engineering practices.
  • Working closely with product and engineering colleagues to shape solutions and deliver work collaboratively.
  • Supporting ongoing improvement across the engineering function and contributing to technical decisions.

Technology environment

The engineering team uses a modern stack that includes Python, web frameworks and APIs, JavaScript and contemporary frontend frameworks, cloud-based infrastructure, and established version control plus CI/CD practices. The role is therefore well suited to someone who enjoys working in a varied technical environment and is comfortable moving between different parts of the stack.

What the employer is looking for

  • Commercial experience developing software in a professional environment.
  • Strong Python skills and confidence working with Python-based systems.
  • Experience building and supporting web applications.
  • Experience designing or maintaining APIs.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative development methods.
  • Clear communication skills and a practical, structured approach to solving problems.
  • Additional experience with cloud platforms, DevOps tooling and practices, mobile development, or modern JavaScript frameworks would be advantageous, but these are not essential.

Package and benefits

  • Salary between £40,000 and £50,000.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Private healthcare.
  • Generous holiday allowance.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Training and professional development support.
  • Other employee benefits.
  • Regular team and company events.

Why this role may appeal

This position offers the chance to join a business where your work will have a visible impact on customers and on the direction of the product. It is a good fit for someone who wants ownership, variety, exposure to modern technologies, and the opportunity to work in a supportive engineering team that values collaboration and technical contribution.
