This opportunity is for an experienced lead full stack engineer who can help build scalable enterprise software across both the browser and server side. The work sits in an Agile delivery setting and involves taking solutions from design through development, testing, and deployment. The role is based in London and follows a hybrid pattern, meaning day-to-day working will be split between company offices, client locations, and home, although the position cannot be carried out entirely from home.

What you will do

  • Take the lead on building responsive web applications using modern frontend technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Redux, Node.js, and Jest.
  • Design and develop backend microservices in Java, using Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, REST APIs, and a microservices-based architecture.
  • Maintain high engineering standards by applying test-driven development practices and creating unit, integration, and automated tests with tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, and Selenium.
  • Work with SQL databases, with MS SQL Server called out as the preferred platform, and help improve query performance and database efficiency.
  • Build and support CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, and deployment activities.
  • Contribute throughout the Agile lifecycle, including design discussions, implementation, testing, and release activities.

What the role calls for

  • Deep practical knowledge of frontend development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Redux, Node.js, and Jest.
  • Strong backend experience with Java, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Experience writing and maintaining tests with JUnit and Mockito, plus familiarity with Cucumber and Selenium.
  • Good understanding of SQL databases, especially MS SQL Server, together with awareness of cloud platforms and messaging technologies.
  • Hands-on use of engineering and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitLab, Nexus, SonarQube, Veracode, Maven, and NPM.
  • A solid grasp of test-driven development, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
  • Previous experience working in Agile or Scrum teams and contributing to collaborative software delivery.
  • This position is intended for experienced professionals.
  • As part of the company’s disability inclusion approach, applicants who declare a disability and meet the minimum essential criteria will be offered an interview if they choose to opt in during the application process.

What you can expect from the employer

  • A hybrid working setup that combines office, client-site, and home-based work, with the clear expectation that the job is not fully remote.
  • Recognition as a Great Place to Work for Wellbeing in 2024.
  • Support for employee wellbeing through trained Mental Health Champions and wellbeing applications such as Thrive and Peppy.
  • Strong learning and development support, including training opportunities, thinktanks, hackathons, and access to a large catalogue of courses.
  • Access to external learning and certification options across providers and subject areas such as AWS, Microsoft, Harvard ManageMentor, and cybersecurity.
  • Employment with a company recognised by Ethisphere as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for 13 consecutive years.
  • The chance to join a large global organisation focused on technology-led transformation, sustainability, inclusion, and innovation.
  • A permanent role within the Software Engineering professional community.
