Company Name Capgemini
Job Role Managing Consultant – Cloud Architect
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Glasgow

Capgemini Invent is looking for an experienced cloud architecture professional who can combine strong technical depth with consulting and client-facing skills. The role sits within a transformation-focused environment where technology, creativity, science, and strategy are brought together to help clients solve complex business challenges. The successful person will act as a technical anchor on cloud strategy and transformation work, helping shape architecture decisions and explain them in a way that resonates with business stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Lead cloud architecture work on client engagements, taking responsibility for current-state analysis, future-state design, and the technical direction of transformation programmes.
  • Assess existing environments and create target architectures, landing zones, and migration routes across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including multi-cloud and hybrid scenarios.
  • Develop workload placement strategies and modernisation approaches for applications, ranging from rehosting through to replatforming and refactoring, while balancing cost, risk, performance, and sovereignty considerations.
  • Design cloud and data platforms that can support AI use cases, including the foundations needed for generative AI and agentic AI solutions.
  • Turn technical architecture choices into clear business narratives, facilitate workshops, and present recommendations so that stakeholders can understand, approve, and invest in them.
  • Review and strengthen solutions during delivery, and bring technical credibility to proposals, bids, and proposition development.
  • In a Managing Consultant capacity, guide the technical agenda across engagements, quality-assure solutions, coach colleagues, and help shape and win new business.
  • In a Senior Consultant capacity, own the architecture workstream on an engagement, produce high-quality technical outputs, and build trusted client relationships.
  • Contribute to business development through proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition work, pitch support, and hosting clients at events.
  • Take part in internal contribution activities such as campaign development, internal think-tanks, whitepapers, practice development, recruitment, team events, and new offering development.
  • Support learning and development through training, certifications, and other growth activities aligned to your career path and the company’s skills needs.

What the company is looking for

  • You should be an architect at heart, with the ability to communicate clearly and credibly like a consultant.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the major cloud providers is required: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Professional cloud certifications are highly desirable, including AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
  • You need broad knowledge across infrastructure, networking, security, and data, with strong depth in cloud migration and application modernisation patterns.
  • You should be comfortable whiteboarding, running workshops, and presenting to senior audiences with impact.
  • Experience designing for AI and data workloads is desirable, and a clear interest in generative and agentic AI architectures is especially welcome.
  • Previous consulting or client-facing experience is important, along with the ability to work successfully in a matrixed organisation.
  • TOGAF or another recognised architecture framework is a helpful advantage.
  • You must be able to build trusted relationships with external stakeholders.
  • The role is aimed at experienced professionals and is offered on a permanent basis.

Working style and location

The role is based out of London, Manchester, or Glasgow, but the company expects full flexibility on assignment location. Work may involve periods away from home at short notice. Capgemini says it has embedded hybrid working across the business and that flexible working arrangements are available to all UK employees.

What it is like to work here

Capgemini Invent says the work is meaningful, varied, and often fast-moving, with the chance to contribute to projects that have a real impact on society, businesses, and people’s lives. Because the work spans many different engagements, you may build experience quickly and gain exposure to a broad range of challenges.

You will also have opportunities to learn from leadership and experienced consulting managers through client engagements, where you can challenge ideas, deepen your delivery capability, and strengthen your industry insight. The company also highlights a range of ways to connect with colleagues, including monthly social gatherings, leadership sessions in a more informal setting, and team days designed to combine learning with collaboration and fun.

The organisation says it is committed to diversity and inclusion and aims to create an environment where people can bring their whole selves to work. It also places emphasis on wellbeing, with trained Mental Health Champions across business areas and access to wellbeing apps such as Thrive and Peppy. Capgemini further states that it supports work-life balance and offers flexible working arrangements.

In addition, the company describes a remuneration package that includes flexible benefits choices and a variable pay element linked to grade, company performance, and personal performance.
