Bloomberg’s buy-side enterprise solutions are designed to help investment firms improve efficiency, support client service, stay compliant, and grow in changing markets. The platform combines automation, innovation, broad market access, and service, and it brings together modular tools that can be adapted to different operating models. The buy-side business provides front-to-back workflows across the investment lifecycle, including risk, portfolio analytics, performance, portfolio management, order and trade management, post-trade processing, and compliance. These capabilities support more than 200 buy-side clients and are used by over 15,000 users, with Bloomberg’s market data and Terminal underpinning the client experience.

This role sits within the Buyside Product team and focuses on private markets and loans. The main objective is to help shape and deliver Bloomberg’s product coverage for direct lending and broadly syndicated loans, while strengthening the broader private markets offering. The position calls for someone who understands the operational side of the loan investment lifecycle in depth, including security master modeling, trading, settlement, positions, lifecycle events, and performance management.

The Product Manager will work across multiple internal groups, including core teams, product, data, engineering, and commercial stakeholders. A key part of the role is helping develop Bloomberg’s Total Portfolio View offering, building thought leadership around private markets, and making sure the approach to loan support is consistent across the business. The role also includes direct interaction with clients, where the product manager will represent the team in discussions, learn what clients expect, identify workflow shortcomings, and uncover opportunities for improvement.

What you will do

  • Build a detailed technical understanding of Bloomberg’s buy-side product set, with particular attention to loan coverage and functionality for both direct lending and broadly syndicated loans.
  • Set clear, measurable delivery targets for the global private markets and Total Portfolio View roadmap.
  • Write functional specifications for each phase of product development, including objectives and key results where relevant.
  • Work side by side with product managers and analysts, especially those in enterprise platforms, to align priorities and support product design, development, and delivery.
  • Partner with product analysts and software engineers to document business requirements that expand private markets coverage and loan-related workflows across Bloomberg’s buy-side applications.
  • Capture client workflows and describe new releases in a way that supports QA testing, sales enablement, and customer communication.
  • Help position Bloomberg’s buy-side solution for private markets investors by turning product capabilities into clear, usable narratives.
  • Contribute thought leadership that strengthens internal understanding of private asset classes and the workflows that support them.
  • Translate market expectations and industry concepts into technology and operating-model best practices that can be incorporated into product design.
  • Promote innovation and collaboration across internal teams and with clients.

What the role requires

  • Seven or more years of experience working with loans, both public and private, in an investment, middle-office, or service-provider role.
  • Strong knowledge of private credit funds, BDCs, and evergreen structures.
  • Experience with investment technology solutions for asset managers and asset owners, especially in loan modeling, trading, and operations.
  • A solid grasp of capital markets and the investment lifecycle for private loans, including private credit and broadly syndicated loans.
  • Understanding of the institutional market participants involved in this space, along with the risk, analytics, and portfolio management needs of private credit investment, operations, and risk teams.
  • A track record of using data and technology to create solutions that are both innovative and commercially viable.
  • Strong knowledge of the service-provider ecosystem for private and broadly syndicated loans, including clearing, settlement, agent banking, servicing, and lifecycle processing.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with both internal and external stakeholders.

Additional experience that would be valued

  • Practical knowledge of Bloomberg buy-side products such as AIM, PORT, and MARS.
  • Experience implementing or using similar solutions from other providers.
  • Relationships with asset managers or asset owners involved in public and private credit investing or middle-market lending.
  • Knowledge of investment lifecycle and accounting processes.
  • Experience leading organizations through change and introducing new ideas.
  • A collaborative, consensus-building approach and the ability to work effectively across teams and the wider business.
  • Professional qualifications such as CAIA, CFA, or the CFA Private Markets and Alternative Investments Certificate.

Bloomberg notes that the years-of-experience requirement should be treated as a guide rather than a strict cutoff, and that candidates who can demonstrate the necessary skills are encouraged to apply.
