The Sustainable Finance Solutions Product team plays a central role in Bloomberg’s strategy for sustainable finance and in the commercial growth of its offerings. The group works to make sustainability products part of the everyday workflows used by clients across the Terminal and Enterprise environment. It collaborates across many parts of the business, including Bloomberg Intelligence, BloombergNEF, Enterprise Data, Engineering, Global Data, Legal and Compliance, and Sales.

This role is for a strategically minded Product Manager who can help shape and scale Bloomberg’s regulation-linked and thematic sustainability data solutions. The aim is to create smooth, practical workflows for sustainability-focused users and firms by building content and capabilities that support the full investment process, from screening and research through portfolio construction, risk management, regulatory reporting, and client communication.

Role focus

The position centers on sustainability datasets and thematic investing solutions that are aligned with changing regulations and investor needs. The work includes datasets and analytics connected to major sustainability frameworks such as EU Taxonomy, SFDR, CSRD, and SDR, as well as thematic datasets that help users understand targeted exposure, alignment, or impact related to sustainability themes. Examples include social and human capital themes, sustainable revenues, and other ESG-related thematic datasets that matter to investors.

As Product Manager, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and supporting Bloomberg’s regulatory and thematic sustainability data products for Terminal and Enterprise clients. A key part of the job is turning evolving regulatory requirements, sustainability themes, investment use cases, and market demand into scalable product specifications, methodologies, data models, analytics, and reporting features.

What you will do

You will shape the strategy and direction of the product area, making sure the vision is clearly communicated and supported by a practical business plan and measurable success criteria. You will lead work on regulation-aligned sustainability data and thematic solutions, and you will look for opportunities to expand Bloomberg’s sustainability coverage through new thematic datasets.

You will also create strong written materials that help align the organization, such as vision documents, product plans, roadmap materials, and executive updates. Regular communication with Product, Data, Engineering, Research, Legal and Compliance, Sales, and other stakeholders will be essential to keep priorities aligned and execution coordinated.

A major part of the role is understanding the different user groups and workflows that exist across sustainable finance. You will build and maintain relationships with clients, market participants, and regulators so that product decisions reflect real-world needs and market developments.

On the execution side, you will work with cross-functional teams to design, build, and launch sustainability data products and analytics. You will write product requirements and methodologies that support client use cases across regulation, thematic investing, screening, portfolio analysis, reporting, and Enterprise Data consumption. You will also own the roadmap for thematic sustainability solutions, deciding what to prioritize based on client demand, competitive intelligence, data availability, and commercial opportunity.

The role also requires ensuring that Bloomberg’s sustainability data products are scalable, transparent, auditable, interoperable, and consistent across the company’s sustainability and climate product platforms. You will work closely with Data and Engineering through refinement sessions, planning, retrospectives, demos, and release cycles so that deliverables are clearly defined and tied to business goals.

You will need to make trade-offs across competing opportunities while taking into account technical, data, methodological, commercial, and resource constraints. In addition, you will support launch readiness and go-to-market execution through documentation, methodology transparency, client-facing materials, training, and internal enablement.

Another important part of the job is stakeholder management. You will help create product development processes that encourage collaboration across Product, Data, Engineering, Research, Legal and Compliance, Sales, Marketing, and other teams. You will partner with Engineering and Data Operations to make sure work is understood, technically feasible, properly governed, and aligned with business goals.

You will also work with Marketing, Sales, and client-facing teams to position and promote Bloomberg’s regulatory and thematic sustainability solutions, and to support adoption. Client engagement is also part of the role: you will validate workflows, test concepts, gather feedback, and identify opportunities to make the product stand out. Finally, you will coordinate across Bloomberg’s sustainability and climate platforms to ensure consistency, interoperability, and a seamless experience for users.

What you need to bring

The role calls for at least five years of experience in sustainable finance, ESG data, regulatory reporting, thematic investing, or a related financial data product area. You should have a strong understanding of one or more sustainability regulatory frameworks, such as EU Taxonomy, SFDR, CSRD, and SDR.

You should also have a proven record of building and executing product strategies that deliver measurable commercial results, along with familiarity with thematic sustainability datasets and their investment use cases, including social and human capital themes and sustainable revenues.

Strong product management skills are essential, including experience with strategy, roadmaps, requirements, success metrics, and go-to-market planning. The role also requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to synthesize regulatory text, market research, client feedback, competitor analysis, and data insights into clear product decisions.

You should be comfortable working across functions and understanding the goals of other teams so that you can find solutions that work well for everyone involved. Excellent communication skills are important, especially the ability to produce high-quality written materials, presentations, and product documentation.

Knowledge of buy-side and/or sell-side workflows is expected, including research, screening, portfolio construction, risk management, reporting, and Enterprise Data consumption. Experience with program management tools such as JIRA is also required.

Nice-to-have experience

It would be especially helpful if you have worked on ESG, regulatory, or thematic investment datasets before. Additional value would come from experience with sustainability data methodologies, governance, auditability, quality frameworks, or model documentation.

Experience working with institutional investors, banks, asset owners, and regulators would also be an advantage, as would an understanding of how sustainability data is used across Terminal workflows, enterprise feeds, portfolio analytics, reporting tools, or regulatory solutions.

The posting notes that the stated years of experience should be treated as guidance rather than a strict rule, and that Bloomberg will consider applicants who can demonstrate the necessary skills even if they do not match the exact number of years.
