Arm is developing a modern service management capability that blends ITIL v4 discipline with contemporary engineering methods. The aim is to support rapid delivery while still maintaining the stability expected in an enterprise environment. In this role, you will shape how new services and features are introduced into production, making sure they are properly designed, supportable, and ready to operate from the outset. You will work closely with both IT and business stakeholders to move services through transition, with early attention to performance, support readiness, and risk, using evidence and data to inform decisions about service health and resilience.
What you will do
- Develop and refine the framework used to determine whether a service is acceptable for production.
- Lead readiness checks for new services, new features, and major releases.
- Guide services through production transition so they are operationally prepared and supportable from day one.
- Work with technical and business teams to ensure performance expectations are defined early, including availability targets, service objectives, and measures of user experience.
- Embed monitoring, observability, and performance insight into the way services are designed.
- Ensure architecture documentation, support models, and operational runbooks are complete and fit for purpose.
- Confirm that services meet expectations for resilience, availability, and continuity before they are launched.
- Identify and close any gaps that could cause operational issues after go-live.
- Help create reporting on service health and performance.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement across the organisation by applying lessons learned and strengthening service transition practices.
What you need
- Practical experience in service design, service transition, or service introduction roles.
- At least five years of experience in technology or IT service environments.
- ITIL v4 certification.
- Experience working in environments that use DevOps or CI/CD delivery approaches.
- Understanding of service performance concepts such as SLAs, SLOs, service monitoring, and service availability.
- Experience ensuring that services are supportable, thoroughly documented, and ready for operational use.
- Strong ability to collaborate and engage effectively across different functions and teams.
- A structured and detail-oriented approach to identifying risk and assessing readiness.
Helpful additional experience
- Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering concepts or other reliability-led practices.
- Experience designing or supporting service workflows that are AI-enabled or built around automation first.
- Further ITIL v4 module certifications beyond foundation, ideally at Practice Manager level.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or a similar IT service management platform.
- Knowledge of SaaS and PaaS-based services and applications.
