Company Name Deliveroo
Job Role Senior Software Engineer iOS
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This senior iOS engineering role sits within Deliveroo’s Consumer team in London and focuses on shaping the mobile experience used by millions of people. The team works on the main customer touchpoint, making the journey from wanting food to receiving it feel fast, reliable, and intuitive. The wider engineering organisation builds and operates technology for a large, global marketplace, handling complex challenges in real time across logistics, infrastructure, and marketplace optimisation.

The position is based in Deliveroo’s London office at The River Building HQ and follows a hybrid working model, usually with three days per week on site. The company is looking for someone who can help evolve the iOS platform, improve the architecture behind the app, and deliver polished features that support the future of on-demand delivery.

What you will do

  • Take the lead on technical execution for iOS by designing and extending architecture that is scalable, resilient, modular, and straightforward to test and maintain.
  • Contribute directly to the delivery of high-impact mobile features that need to perform well for a very large user base.
  • Help keep the codebase in excellent shape by producing clear, well-structured software and by taking part in thorough code review practices.
  • Improve the operational reliability of the app by reducing maintenance burden, increasing observability, and keeping a close eye on crashes and performance issues.
  • Work in close partnership with product managers and designers to break down complicated problems and shape a roadmap that balances new product work with technical debt.
  • Support the growth of other engineers by offering technical guidance, helping colleagues make good decisions, and taking part in recruitment.
  • Contribute across multiple teams where needed, with work that has impact beyond a single isolated project.

What the role requires

  • Substantial hands-on experience building iOS apps, with strong knowledge of Swift and/or Objective-C.
  • Proven ability to evolve and scale mobile architecture inside a large codebase while maintaining stability and performance for millions of users.
  • Experience owning technical delivery within a cross-functional team, ideally in a fast-paced product-led environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of modern iOS development, especially UIKit and Auto Layout.
  • A strong commitment to quality, including writing well-tested code and applying CI/CD best practices.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • The confidence and seniority to influence technical direction and help shape how the team works.
