| Category | IT Jobs |
| Job Type | Full Time |
| Location | Bristol |
This role sits within the Frameworks team and focuses on building the software support that allows AI developers to get the best out of Graphcore hardware. The work is centered on making Graphcore accelerators operate smoothly with modern machine learning frameworks, especially Triton and PyTorch, and on improving the overall experience for researchers and engineers running demanding ML workloads. The position reports to a team lead in Frameworks and offers substantial technical ownership, with the chance to influence how the wider ML software ecosystem evolves.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain framework support that helps developers use Graphcore hardware effectively.
- Work on seamless integration between Graphcore accelerators and leading ML frameworks, with particular emphasis on Triton and PyTorch.
- Design, implement, optimise, and support important software components across a complex stack.
- Improve the speed, quality, and usability of the software that sits between Graphcore hardware and ML developers.
- Contribute to the Triton team by building new features, reviewing code, and producing technical documentation.
- Collaborate with upstream open-source communities as part of the teamâs delivery and maintenance work.
- Help organise and coordinate technical work that spans multiple teams and may not have a narrowly defined scope.
- Take part in work across other framework areas when needed, with the opportunity to broaden your contribution over time.
- Use sound engineering judgement to balance quality, complexity, and technical debt while making progress quickly.
- Support the delivery of software that researchers and engineers can rely on for high-performance machine learning workloads.
Team and working style
The Frameworks team connects Graphcoreâs hardware with the tools used by ML engineers and researchers. The team works across several major frameworks, including PyTorch, Triton, JAX, and TensorFlow, with a strong focus on usability and performance. Delivery is shaped by agile ways of working, direct technical discussion, and clear ownership of tasks. Engineers are expected to contribute ideas, raise issues early, solve difficult problems, and keep work moving at pace. Technical choices are guided by evidence, code quality, and business outcomes. The team also works closely with Graphcore colleagues and open-source communities to build software that developers can trust.
What the company is looking for
- Strong software engineering capability, including the judgement needed to handle quality, complexity, and technical debt well.
- Practical experience developing software in Python and C++.
- Experience with compiler development.
- Ability to manage complex technical tasks that involve dependencies across teams.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to collaboration and technical leadership.
- Interest in AI, machine learning frameworks, performance optimisation, or other computationally intensive engineering work.
- Comfort working in an environment where engineers are trusted to take ownership and move quickly.
- Willingness to keep learning and contribute across related framework teams as needed.
