This is a senior, hands-on embedded software position within an engineering-led technology company that creates sophisticated sensor-based products for demanding, highly regulated sectors including healthcare, security, and critical infrastructure. The role sits inside a collaborative product development team with strong investment in research and development, and it offers the chance to shape technical direction while working across firmware, embedded architecture, real-time operating systems, IoT connectivity, and newer Edge AI-related work.
What you will do
- Write embedded software in C and C++ for commercial products.
- Develop firmware for systems built around STM32 microcontrollers.
- Build and maintain software in FreeRTOS-based environments.
- Work with embedded communication technologies such as I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, and Ethernet.
- Support connected device functionality, including IoT features and cloud integration.
- Partner with hardware engineers and data scientists to deliver integrated product solutions.
- Take part in architecture work, design reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Contribute to product development from the earliest concept stages through to final release.
- Play an active role in a senior engineering capacity where your input helps guide the technical approach.
- Help explore and develop emerging applications involving Edge AI within embedded systems.
What the employer is looking for
- At least five years of experience in embedded software development.
- Strong hands-on ability with embedded C and C++.
- Experience developing commercial products.
- Practical experience with STM32 devices.
- Experience working with RTOS platforms, ideally FreeRTOS.
- Familiarity with embedded communications protocols and interfaces.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose complex technical issues.
- Confidence working collaboratively across engineering disciplines.
- Additional experience with Nvidia Jetson would be useful.
- Additional experience with embedded Linux would be useful.
- Exposure to Edge AI or machine learning would be useful.
- Experience with TouchGFX would be useful.
- Experience with IoT connectivity would be useful.
- Knowledge of embedded cybersecurity would be useful.

- Location: Evesham.
- Employment type: Permanent.
- Salary: £48,000 to £65,000.
