This role sits within Googleâs technical infrastructure organization and focuses on the planning and delivery of network capacity for CDN-related systems. The position is intended for someone who can manage complex, cross-functional work from start to finish, keep multiple priorities moving at once, and help ensure that Googleâs network continues to support fast and reliable user experiences at scale.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will coordinate with a range of stakeholders to define project scope, set objectives, and establish deliverables for edge-capacity delivery efforts. The work supports on-network CDN devices as well as Google Global Cache and peering growth and performance needs. You will be expected to keep schedules on track, surface and manage risks early, and make sure the work stays aligned with broader organizational goals.
The team context is part of Googleâs Technical Infrastructure group, which builds and maintains the systems that keep Googleâs products running. This includes the underlying architecture, data center and platform foundations, and the network systems that help deliver a fast experience to users around the world. The role is suited to someone who is comfortable working across engineering, operations, and business stakeholders, and who can discuss technical tradeoffs as well as present clear recommendations to leadership.
What you will do
- Run several network programs at the same time, balancing shifting priorities while keeping delivery timelines on track.
- Partner with stakeholders to define the scope, goals, and deliverables for edge-capacity delivery projects that support CDN hardware, Google Global Cache, and peering expansion and performance requirements.
- Anticipate and manage risks that can affect edge-capacity delivery, such as delayed hardware, site access problems, power limitations, and disruptions caused by upgrade work.
- Ensure project plans and execution remain aligned with the organizationâs overall strategy and business objectives.
- Identify ways to improve existing processes, lead cross-functional change efforts, help scale operations, and contribute to the development and automation of workflows.
What you need
- A bachelorâs degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least two years of experience in program management in a role that spans multiple functions or teams.
- Experience in network planning, architecture, or design within a technology company or telecommunications environment.
- Preferred: a bachelorâs degree in software development, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: prior work in IP network planning or implementation for an ISP, telecom operator, carrier, or CDN provider.
- Preferred: the ability to show strong technical capability together with a good grasp of networking concepts.
Compensation and location
The posting lists pay for Ireland at â¬94,000 to â¬96,500 annually, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Applicants are able to indicate a preferred working location from London, UK or Dublin, Ireland.
