Arup is seeking a Solution Architect to join its Digital Advisory team within the UKIMEA region. The role sits within a growing client-facing solution and enterprise architecture practice and is focused on helping deliver sustainable digital solutions for external clients, while also contributing to related work that supports Arup’s own building engineering and design services when required.

In this position, you would be part of a multidisciplinary consulting environment and help shape solutions from the earliest design stages through implementation. The work spans architecture, strategy, analysis, and delivery support, with an emphasis on practical, high-quality design decisions that align with client needs and Arup’s broader purpose.

What you would do

  • Collaborate with consultants from different disciplines to design digital solutions that are sustainable and fit for purpose.
  • Take the lead on high-level design discussions and workshops with clients, helping define the overall solution direction.
  • Provide architectural review and assurance while working with the software development team during implementation.
  • Develop technology strategy content and perform analysis that informs solution choices and delivery planning.
  • Support, where needed, solutions that complement Arup’s building engineering and design work.
  • Contribute to solutions that may involve cloud services, data integration, analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and GIS-based applications.

What the team is looking for

  • Experience in one or more built environment sectors, such as energy, water, rail, highways, aviation, buildings, or sustainability.
  • Energy-sector experience is especially valuable for this opportunity.
  • Experience delivering technology projects or products in an IT function, IT services environment, or IT consulting role.
  • Solid understanding of one or more architecture specialisms, including solution architecture, data architecture, cloud architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP, integration architecture, or enterprise architecture.
  • Practical experience with business analysis, digital requirements management, and project management approaches.
  • Ability to produce non-functional requirements and to manage risks and dependencies effectively.
  • Experience working within the software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with both agile and waterfall delivery methods.
  • Experience working with the Government Digital Services Framework.
